Default The ULTIMATE ratings question - do they matter?

I know......what a dumb question. But that was a little misleading.

I didn't mean "do ratings matter".......we all know they do in MOST cases. They did NOT last year.....what with Jeff Zucker stepping in in late January with "I like the show......we are renewing".

But how many times do we want to have to "rely on a break" to stay on air?
It wears you out.......just ask me!

Anyway.....here's the ULTIMATE question regarding ratings:

WHAT LEVEL DO WE NEED ON WED. NIGHTS TO STAY ON?

Some have suggested we don't need as high on Wed as we did on Sunday.
We all know reruns of Law and Order are beating us on Sunday night.
So NBC played it right there.
Don't be mad at them.....if not for "them".....we would have NEVER been on air at all. Got it?

My guess?
We were averaging from 7 to 8 million when last counted. Not good enough for Sunday night.
Proof? We are not on Sunday any more.

I guess we might only need 5 to 6 million to stay on Wed. Just my guess. That would put us in 4th behind ABC, CBS and FOX......but ahead of the WB.
If we need 9....or 10........or 11 to stay on and come in 3rd.......I don't know.
We could do it......but I think it would take some ADVERTISING.....and I don't know if NBC is up to that EXPENDITURE.
Ya see......it all comes down to MONEY. Yup, like it or not.......that's it.

THAT IS THE REASON THOSE REALITY SHOWS ARE ON.
They make MONEY. I am as surprised as ANY of you about that.

Peace.

Thumbs up I hope so!

I really hope you are right about the 5 to 6 million viewer thing. I don't know why but I am soooooooo optimistic about this show. I keep having dreams about it. If it does go off the air then oh well, I'll adjust but I will miss it. I will always have my DVDs and books!!

Question

Missstudnicka-Are the books any good? Some one else talked about them before on another thread but I hadn't heard anything before that. And I agree with you both, the rating system the networks do is crap. I mean look at this site, AD obviously has a fan base. Not everyone can or should be expected to have 15million viewers! Hopefully they will realize that before its too late.

Smile They are pretty good

The books are pretty good. Not bestseller material or anything, but chances are if you like the show you will like the books. They are mostly written about Meg. I've only read the first one, Dance With Me and it pretty much goes through the first season of the show. I am reading the second right now and I don't remember the stuff happening in that book happening on TV, but that could just be that I don't remember. There are 5 books total out right now and they come out every other month, I think.

Post the books

The books come out every other month. They are not based on episodes. Consider them bonus episodes, in book form. They're cool. I read them as soon as they come out.

As for ratings, I don't know. They havn't been promoting the change, so we'll probably see a drop at first.

They haven't been promoting the change of night?
I don't know....I'm too busy working to be at home in front of the tv.
Maybe they've done research and have figured out they don't need to promote it.
They're the professionals.......they must know what to do.

Peace.
