I love the 2nd theme because it included the Professor and Mary Ann.

This sounds like a fun topic! I think I'll try it on The Munsters board.

That's a hard one. I picked the one by the Eligibles, just because I know that Russell Johnson and Dawn Wells were really glad to be included in the shows opening, finally.
But I do like the Wellingtons too. And they were the Mosquitos.

I remember when I was in the Air Force one of my bunkies had a tape that Had the Gilligan" Island theme sung to the music of Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" It is about the funniest thing out there. And is actually better than both versions.

I read somewhere that the first version was recorded in Sherwood Shwartz' home and if listened very closely u can actually hear Mrs. Shwartz rattleling dishes. I've tried many times and cannot hear a single thing.

In Sherwood Schwart'z book Inside Gilligan's Island he talks about recoring the theme song in a chapter and doing it during his nehibors party. I have listened to and I have never heard it either.

The 2nd and 3rd season. Not just because of The Professor and Mary Ann, but it's a little more upbeat. Always thought the Wellingtons sang it too soft for my taste. The Eligible's, 2nd and 3rd season singers, were better.

I've always preferred the second theme, not only because of the Mary Ann/Professor inclusion, but also because it just seemed livelier, more fun, and more colorful, to match the spirit of the show. But I still treasure the original opening, as I do the black-and-white first season.
