The Return and Betrayal

Hello. This is my first time writing a fic so I'll write a little bit now and then tell me what you think. Also Kelly is helping me. For any of you that know her, you know what that means. Thanks.

A few months after Jinny and Hank's wedding, Nate was still depressed. He never got over CD. Kate and Louis tried to reconcile but he asked her to give up the job but she couldn't do it. He left once again. So Kate is still in San Francisco raising Katie Ann. Amanda still hasn't come back. Magda and Gabe renewd their wedding vows. Raina did not marry Johnny and he did not want to be 'just friends'. So they did not see each other anymore. Stacey is Stacey. Although she was okay in the begining, she began to become more agressive. Everyone blew it off. Everything was normal at The Divsion until one day Captain McCafferty gets a phone call.

Kate- (Answers phone) Captain McCafferty?
CD- Kate?
Kate- CD? Oh my God! Where are you?
CD- I'm back in San Francisco.
Kate- This is just unexpected. I haven't heard from you since..
CD- I know. The thing is that I really missed you guys. If it is okay with you, can I please have my job back?
Kate- Are you sure CD? You were really clear about leaving here--
CD- I understand that and yes I am sure. I really need to come back.
Kate- I would be happy to give you your job back. You can start immediately.
CD- Oh thank you Captain! You will not regret this!
Kate- I know I won't. It will be great having you back.
CD- Thank you. I will be there tomorrow morning!
Kate- Okay then. Bye.
CD- Bye.

Kate smiled. She was so happy to have her favorite Inspector back. She knew it was going to make Nate happy too. The only problem was is that now there was going to be too many people. The only reason she hired Stacey was because she was short handed because CD had left. Now that CD was coming back, she wasn't really needed anymore. She was getting more moody lately and very hard to deal with. It's not like it was a big loss. First she would talk with Raina and Nate, then Stacey.

Kate- Nate, Raina.

Nate and Raina got up and walked into Kate's office and sat down.

Kate- I have some good news for you. Raina, we will need to find you a new partner.
Raina- How is that good news?
Kate- Because if Nate doesn't mind I will be wanting him to work with CD.
Nate- Uh..come again?
Kate- I want you to be partners with CD. Do you have conflicts with that?
Nate- (Pauses) No.
Kate- Okay then. Raina we will find you a new partner.
Raina- Just as long as you don't have me working with that Stacey witch.
Kate- You don't have to worry about that. You can go back to work and send Stacey in please.

Nate, still in shock, left with Raina and Stacey entered the office.

Stacey- Captain you wanted to see me?
Kate- Yes have a seat.
Stacey- So what did you need me for this time?
Kate- Well I would like to talk to you. You see, before you came here, we had an Inspector resign and that's why we needed the extra help. Well she is coming back tomorrow and we just have too many people on the pay roll. I'm sorry Stacey but I'm going to have to let you go.
Stacey- What?
Kate- It's not only because of that. Lately, your attitude is affecting your work and both are unacceptable. Stacey, you're fired.
Stacey- You're going to regret this!

Stacy got up and slammed the door. She left the Division and vowed that this was not the end.

The next day, everybody is sitting there doing work..when all of a sudden..

CD- Hi guys. I'm back.
Nate- (Who is in total shock) CD..
CD- Hi Nate.
Magda- Oh my goodness!
Jinny- CD we've missed you.

Kate heard the shocks and came out of her office.

Kate- CD, in my office.
CD- Yes Cap'n. (Went into her office)
Kate- (Closed the door and opened her drawer) Welcome back. I have something for you. (Hands CD her gun and her badge)
CD- I missed these.
Kate- I already have a case for you and Nate to work on. There was a murder last night.
CD- What do you know about the victim?
Kate- He's young and he was out on a date last night. I want you to talk to the girlfriend.
CD- Okay. We're on it.
Kate- Bet it feels good to say that again. (Smiles)
CD- Feels weird..but a good weird.

CD left Kate's office and went out to Nate's desk.

CD- Listen Nate, I would like to pick up where we left off as partners. If there is a problem with that please tell me.
Nate- CD, it's part of my job. Now let's get to work.
CD- Yes let's. We got a murder we have to check out.
Nate- Fine by me.

For my new reader, here's another post! Enjoy.

Although they were barely speaking to each other, CD and Nate were on their way to the crime scene, where they would get a big surprise. They were very quiet on the way there. No one wanted to speak first. Neither of them knew what to say. When they got to the crime scene, they got back into police mode. They got out at a really big house with two officers already waiting for them.

Nate- What do we got here?
Officer 1- Victim is a male, 20-25 years of age approximately, one shot to the head, another to the stomach.
CD- Ouch. We heard something about a girlfriend.
Officer- Yeah she's in there. Pretty shook up. She said she hates the sight of blood. It's everywhere!
Nate- Okay thank you. We'll call if we need you.
Officer- You got it.

Nate and CD went into the house where there literally was blood everywhere. They made there way to the kitchen, the only room on the first floor where there wasn't any blood, and found the girlfriend there. Only there was some confusion. The girlfriend wasn't there. Stacey was.

Nate- Stacey? What are you doing here?
CD- *Pretty anxious that Nate knows a girl who looks like that* You two know each other?
Nate- She took your place when you..*stopped*
Stacey- I'm Stacey Reynolds. And I am the girlfriend of the victim.

Nate and CD were shocked. Not only by the fact that she was his girlfriend but how she called him 'the victim'. They took her into another room and questioned her.

Nate- So how long were you and Mr. Smith seeing each other?
Stacey- Oh please, Billy. Billy and I were seeing each other for 2 days.
CD- Wow love at first sight huh? *rolls eyes*
Stacey- You could say that.
Nate- And you two saw each other last night is that right?
Stacey- Yes we went out for dinner, came home for a few hours, then I left at 12:00AM.
CD- And what were you doing at home for those few hours?
Stacey- Public relations.
CD- I see..
Stacey- You know I don't really appreciate the comments made by you.
CD- Well let me ask you this sweetheart, if you took me place and are a cop, how come you told the officers you are afraid of blood?
Stacey- I am afraid of blood, I was only a beginner cop so I didn't see too much of it.
CD- Uh huh.
Stacey- You know I think I will go to Captain McCfferty about your attitude problem.
CD- Bring it on blondie!
Nate- That's enough! Stacey, we'll be in touch. CD come on.

CD and Nate went back to the car.

Nate- Boy you can't resist can you?
CD- She's weird and something is up with her.
Nate- No kidding but we don't get into fights with witnesses.
CD- I'm sorry. I will try harder.
Nate- Good. *Smiled a little*


CD was actually happy. That's the first smile out of him since she got back. They headed back to the station, first dropping by Burger King to get Nate those chocolate pies he loves.

Sorry this took so long to post on. I hope people are still reading!

Nate got the pies and they went back to the station. They were all sitting in Kate's office, discussing theories.

CD- I'm telling you Captain, this Stacey chick was acting very strange when we were there.
Raina- Please, she's always like that.
Nate- No, we mean weirder than usual.
Kate- So the victim is Stacey Reynolds boyfriend?
CD- Apparently. She didn't sound like it though. She kept referring to him as the victim and things like that. She seemed very distant.
Jinny- Maybe because she just lost her boyfriend?
Nate- A 2-day boyfriend? I don't think it would do that much damage.
Kate- I want her back in here for questioning. Do you want uniforms to go pick her up?
CD- We can do it.
Nate- Just as long as I don't have to listen to girly fights on the way there.
CD- *Glares* Let's go.
Jinny- Mag and I will look into some other leads. There's got to be other people who wanted to see him dead.

CD and Nate were in the car on their way to Stacey's. The ride had been silent once again, neither of them knowing what to say.

CD- Do you want to talk?
Nate- Not really.
CD- Well we haven't really since I got back. I think we need to discuss this.
Nate- Why bring it all back up CD? You dumped me, it's over.
CD- Look, what I did was wrong...and I know I hurt you...but you have to look at this from my point of view. I was shot on the job, I thought I was going to die and never ever see you again. A few days before, you almost died, it was just all too much.
Nate- But you didn't die, I didn't die, we could've been happy this past year, and you had to take all of that away.
CD- I want us to go slow okay? I needed to get out, I needed some time to think. Please, give me another chance?

Nate just looked at CD. They were pulling up to the house, so they'd finish talking later. Police officers told them that Stacey had left an hour before. So CD and Nate rushed over to Stacey's apartment, she was gone.

CD and Nate went home for the night and they would work more on the case in the morning. What they didn't know was that it was too late. Nate was just about to get into bed, when his cell phone rang. It was from a blocked number.

Nate- Basso. Hello.
CD- Nate.
Nate- CD I told you we would talk about this tomorrow.
CD- She's going to kill me.
Nate- What, who?
Stacey- Me. Hi Nate.
Nate- Stacey? What are you doing there?
Stacey- Getting what's rightfully mine. Come over here now. *Click*
