Default I liked it better when Jimmy Smits was on...

.....I hate casts changes. I never got into this show after he left. I just don't take Ricky Shroeder and Mark-Paul Gosselaar serious as cops.

In crime shows like this I don't mind cast changes as much as in comedies. In crime shows it keeps the show interesting when you have different personalities come in with their style and character issues.

Smits was my favorite partner of Andy Sipowicz. If I had to put them in order as partners from best to worst, I'd say:

Jimmy Smits
David Caruso (funny, I can't stand him on CSI:Miami)
Mark Paul Saved By The Bell
Ricky Silver Spoons

I didn't think Schroeder was bad, just a little whiney is all.

I pretty much liked the show all the way through. Jimmy Smitts was my favorite of the partners but I liked the other ones too.

During Ricky Schroeder's time on the show, I always wanted to see some of his old Silver Spoons people make an appearance. It would have been funny if Erin Gray were arrsested for prostitution or Joel Higgins being dragged into the 15th precinct after smoking crack and murdering a little old lady from Queens.

Maybe I'm just demented.

It's an insult to true actors to call Rick Schroder an actor. He sucked. By the way, after David Caruso left, ABC wanted to bring in Fred Dryer (Hunter) as Andy's new partner.

I didn't mind Rick Schroeder's work ,in fact he surprised me and did a really good job.But I couldn't take "Zack" from "Saved by the Bell" as a cop.I stopped watching at that point. David Caruso never should have left but on the other hand we wouldn't have gotten to see Jimmy Smits fine portrayal as Bobby Simone.Caruso should at least have stayed for another season.

It's funny, I never watched this show before Jimmy Smits came on here. It got boring after he left. It's just something about the chemistry Simone and Sipowicz had on screen that made this a good drama.
