Default ABC's oldest scripted series premiered in 2001?!

Come this Tuesday, ABC will lose its only scripted series to have aired an episode in the 20th century. The second oldest show is My Wife and Kids which debuted in March 2001. After that is Alias from September of the same year.

Does anyone else find this strikingly odd??

Primetime, yes.

But people ALWAYS OVERLOOK daytime when it comes to "oldest this" or "longest-running that." General Hospital is the longest-running show on the network and is the oldest. One Life to Live and All My Children closely follow.

I'll try...

NBC:

I believe that Law and Order is their longest running show, debuting in the late 80's. Than ER follows, then Will and Grace.

CBS:

i think their longest running show currently is Judging Amy, followed by Raymond, than The King Of Queens...

WB:

Longest running is 7th Heaven, i believe that Charmed is next and then Gilmore Girls, Smallville and Reba.

UPN:

mmmm do they have anything older than 3 years on their network (i mean other than Smackdown)...

FOX:

hmmm this is tough, seeing as i hardly ever watch this network, but i think that their longest-running show is The Simpsons, followed by King of the hill and than Malcolm In The Middle..

CBS also has JAG which premiered on NBC in 1995 but moved to CBS the following season.

Actually, Raymond is 3 seasons older than Judging Amy. It's currently in it's ninth season, and Amy is only in her sixth. And That 70s Show is older than Malcolm in the Middle on Fox. It's in its 7th season, and I believe King of the Hill is too. And I don't know about UPN either. I know Enterprise is in it's fourth season, premiering in 2001, but I'm not sure if they have anything older. I dunno. NYPD Blue was really all ABC had after Drew Carey ended.Hard to believe it's ending. End of an era.

Girlfriends might be UPN's longest running show right now.

Four years? For ABC, that's impressive.

Am I blind or does this say what the show to air in the 20th century was?

I think it speaks more to the fact that you're obviously not in touch with anything the media promotes. this finale has been so hyped, beyond anything i've ever seen. but its ok because NYPD BLUE was past its prime, years and years ago. Once Smitts left it wasn't the same.

Yeah that must be it, please. Maybe the fact that I could care less?
