Does anyone here ever have mood swings,I have them sometimes, and
my parents only think that they are only temper tantrums,It's got to be something else because I have them every so often, I wonder if I could be having a mood disorder of some sort.I may need to take some kind of medicine to get rid of them. |

It's so weird because I have mood swings and insomnia, and neither
ever seems to go away,I hope I don't have a mental illness.

Yes! All my life my parents have accused me of being bi-polar.My moods pretty much change like the wind. One minute I could be really happy, the next I can be really down in the dumps. But my mood changes when someone provokes it usually. Its not like it just happens

consider some things and then id recommend seeing someone- you can start with a family doctor who can refer you if needbe.
how long do each of your moods last? how long have they been a problem? are they drastic enough as to interfere with your daily life? what other symptoms do you have? (such as insomnia, which often accompanies manic depression, weight gain/loss, eating habits, etc..) another thing to consider is do you find your moods corresponding with certain times of year. They diagnosed me as cyclothymic when I was 14, then a couple years ago they reevaluated thinking i was bipolar and concluded that i had seasonal affective disorder as well, this just means that i get really depressed during the winter months. a sun lamp and some time outside and im not such a wreck.
