Post It's official (hate to say), but "Frasier" isn't funny anymore

Anyone else with me on this? They really struggled thru the last couple years (with stuff like naming a toupee'd character "Mr. Rugly") but this season is just empty. The biting wit is totally gone, and last night I swear I didn't laugh once. And the fact that they've been signed thru 2003 is scary with the way the writing has fallen off.

Agree/disagree?

Cool

Disagree.

I personally like Frasier more and more. True I might not laugh at everything that's said, but I can't help but watch when they've actually kept it interesting with Niles and Daphne...and Martin, and occasionally showing more of Roz's life. And when Frasier screws up, I find it hilarious! (I never really liked him all that much anyway.)

HOORAY for it being at LEAST til 2003.

I miss Bebe, the agent from hell. She hasn't been on the show lately.

I've been reading the scripts (well, transcripts, actually) for season nine of Fraiser, which has yet to be aired in England, and I disagree. I think Frasier is one of the best, if not the best, sitcom on tv these days. The only thing I don't like too much is the fact that Niles and Daphne are a couple - some of the programmes best moments are when Niles is trying to impress Daphne but ususally just makes a fool out of himself. Now they are together it just seems a bit...dull? But that is my one and only complaint. Everything else is perfect and I hope the show goes on for a while longer.

I think Frasier has gotten a little better this season. It is still the best written sitcom on TV, and has one of the tightest casts ever to appear on screen.
My biggest complaint these past few years is the constant repetition of the storylines. I'm getting a little tired of seeing Frasier drive away his "guest celebrity girlfriend of the week" through some rediculous chain of events.
Still the story arc with Frasier going through his "midlife crisis" by seeing a therapist was very funny and touching. It is refreshing to see a sitcom character actually try to learn from his mistakes. I think the best thing the show can do is to actually bring in another character. How about finally giving Frasier a long term girlfriend?
Still, the show has been around for a long time I do hope they decide to pack it in after 2003. All good things must come to an end, you know...

That would be great. It's probably about time Frasier actually settled down with someone. Just as long as they DO NOT pair him up with Roz, though. That would be awful and would really ruin the show, I think.

Default Frasier and a girlfriend..

Well its been 9 years and once the show is over they should just pair him back up with Lilith. They were a great couple, and they wouldn't have to worry about writting scripts after the show was done.

You know, that probably wouldn't be a bad idea. I always love it when they bring Lilith back. The relationship between Frasier and Lilith has matured to the point where they have even become friendly with one another, and I think that has a lot to do with the great chemistry between Kelsey Grammer and Bebe Neuwirth. Plus, she's been on so many times they might as well make her a regular.

Pairing Frasier with Lilith would hurt the show's integrity.

I love Bebe Neuwirth, the character of Lilith, the episodes of Fraser she's in and the chemistry with Grammer/Frasier, but it would go against everything in those characters' profiles.

How often is she referred to as Frasier's ex-wife/nemesis like Marist was to Niles. Won't and wouldn't and shouldn't happen.

Lilith wouldn't leave her career/reputation etc., that she's built where she is.

True, but if they were to get back together they could host the radio show together. I think that might work? would it work?

LILITH??? Host a psychiatry radio call-in show????
What she would do to anyone who suggests that I can't even imagine.

She belittles Frasier for doing so, remember?

Maybe for another guest appearance (which I'd be all for), but as a way to have her on the show regularly probably not.

How about this, though: Now that Daphne has moved in with Niles, there is a free room in the condo. Someone in another thread had mentioned having their son Frederick come live with Frasier. Maybe that could put those characters on more often?
