Cool Wait Till Your Father Gets Home

Anyone remember an animated sitcom in the early 70's called "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home"? It was around 1973/74, and featured the voice of Tom Bosley as a father who was dealing with his kids growing up--it was patterned after the success of All in the Family. It even featured Jack Burns as a hardcore right-wing type who was looking out for "commie-plots." It touched on some controversial things like Archie Bunker and them were trying to do.

I remember this animated sitcom, which ran for two years in prime access syndication. There was one episode where daughter Alice bought a see-through dress and Harry lost his temper. Even memorable was the opening theme song which contained the line "Wait till your father gets..until your father gets...wait till your father gets home."

I loved this show! I wish it was still airing somewhere. The last I saw it, it was on Comedy Central or Cartoon Network....I forget which one.

Wasn't that "My World And Welcome To It"? With father's voice of William Windom and the girl that played "Bess" on MTM (sorry - can't remember her real name) who voiced the daughter?

He was supposed to be a cartoonist for a newspaper or something. Never really liked it much.

That episode was the original pilot (if animated shows can have pilots ) which aired on Love American Style, which lead to the series. Loved the show wish it would come out on DVD.

The neighbor was great, he was an anti-communist, and the little old lady that was in his group.

Theme song:

I love my mom and dad
and my brothers too
and the groovy way we
get along

Everytime the slightest thing
goes wrong, Mom starts to
sing this familiar song

Wait till your father gets
until your father gets,
wait till your father gets home

Moms not so bad and she
seldom gets mad, and the
odds about to desert her
Kids today like to have their
own way, and what daddy
doesn't know won't hurt him

I think my mom's just swell
till she starts to yell, everytime
we have a fuss
just wait till your father gets
until your father gets
wait till your father gets home

we know.......

No sure if I got it right.

Hi All....I loved 'Wait Until Your Father Gets Home'. Cartoon Network used to air it late nights before they started the Adult Swim toons. I'd love to see this show back on soon.

no, "My World and Welcome to it" was a short-lived live-action sitcom in 1969 or 70 on NBC. "Wait Till Your Father Gets Home" was on ABC.
