Default Better "Late Night" show: Letterman or Conan

Of the two "Late Night" shows that have aired on NBC at 12:30 am since 1982, which show was better. Late Night with David Letterman or Late Night with Conan O'Brian?

Thats a tough one. I think Letterman was better back in the old time slot. (then he is now). Right now I like Conan better, but rarely stay up that late. I can't pick!

Exclamation Conan Rules!

He's better than Letterman ever was and I can't wait for lame-o Leno to leave The Tonight Show.

I prefer Letterman's Late Nite over Conan's. Late Nite with David Letterman had a lot of classic moments and great guest stars. I also loved what Chris Elliott did on the show. Can't get any better than David Letterman.

Default Better "Late Night" shows: Letterman or Conan

Easily Letterman, both Conan & Dave are clearly the best @ what they do right now.

Letterman's Late Night Show (1982-1993) was a groundbreaking odd show, the thing about watching old Late Night Shows vs SNL's early days is Letterman's old show never looses it's cool, rather than a parody (SNL) Letterman's old show (Late Night) was a parody of a parody of a parody...it just made no sense @ all, I've never seen anything like it before or since:

360 Angle Show
The show on the back of the pick-up truck going down the interstate, or on a 747 Jumbo Jet
The Monkey Cam
Kenny the Gardner (The stupidest thing ever aired on television)
Peace through Dramatization
Filling the audience full of Chinese Speaking People, (nope they never did get it)
Finding Guest Host, & then leaving the buidling.
The "Top Ten" "Stupid Pet Tricks" "Stupid Human Tricks" "Mailbag"....

In was "Late Night" that ended the "kiss the A@@ of celebrity parade" to talk shows with his famous on air bouts with the likes of Cher, Shirley MacLaine, & a host of others.

There's so many stuff if I were only a better writer & more patient I could explain in better detail...

The "Late Night" Show is not only better than Conan's "Late Night" Version it's better than Dave's "Late Show", in fact in my opinion it's the best show ever aired on television.

An old article in TV Guide once stated that had it not been for Dave's "Late Night" Show there would be no Simpsons, Seinfeld, Conan O' Brien, or even Leno for that matter.

A few years later TV Guide listed "The Late Show" not "Late Night" (which I'll never get) as the 7th Best Television Show of all Time, even above Dave's idol Johnny Carson.

Letterman and Conan are my favorite late night TV hosts, so it's difficult for me to choose one of them, but I'll say Conan. He always makes me laugh out loud, which is hard to do.

I honestly don't remember Letterman's late night at all. I was too little to remember it. But I'm just going to say Conan because he's hilarious and I want him ALL the time now. I never watch Letterman at all.

I'm a HUGE fan of Letterman's Late Night - I think it's the best "talk show" of all time.

Currently, though, I think Conan's got the best late night show going. I can't even watch Dave anymore.

Late Night with David Letterman vs. Late Night with Conan O' Brien: DAVE. I repeat, Dave. For those of you with digital cable, check for a channel called Trio. They air Classic Dave M-F at 10PM and 1 AM ET/PT.

Late SHOW with David Letterman vs. Late Night with Conan O' Brien: Honestly...Conan.
