So where exactly DID Aunt Martha live?
In some of the episodes Aunt Martha lived close enough to be able to take a train to visit. (Train Trip is one and the fare was only around $4.00)
On other episodes Aunt Martha had to take an airplane to visit. She is always insinuating that "back east" is the place to be and that the Cleavers have such an "Eastern-Looking" house so far west. I always assumed she lived in New England somewhere. But, then June says Aunt Martha practically raised her and I was under the impression that June was from the Saint Louis area. ( I forget which episode mentioned that fact.)
Just another continuity error that was not expected to be remembered after all these years, I guess.

I'm not clear on June's early years but this is the little I understand: June was from the St. Louis area. She went to boarding school and it was at this time she associated with Aunt Martha. Where was the boarding school? Mayfield? Shaker Heights?

I don't think either of the Cleaver homes had a particularly "eastern-look" if you mean New England-y. Inside and out their homes had a look that could be found across the USA during the late 50-early 60s. There was nothing about the look of either of their homes that was especially regional.

I think "such an eastern looking house" was simply a high compliment, in Aunt Martha's view; with a touch of snobbery included, but disguised so finely it would still be perceived as a compliment.

Anyway, when I wrote a fanfic about how Ward and June met, I covered the conflicting backgrounds of June being with her parents in East St. Louis, yet being raised mostly by Aunt Martha in the "east" by having June's parents being missionaries who were out of the country most of the time while June stays with Aunt Martha, near where "State" University is located, which is where she first met Ward. I'm not sure June met Ward at State. I think they met earlier in or near Shaker Heights or Mayfield. Ward has referred to Shaker Heights in a way that suggests it was his childhood home and that he knew or met June before his days at State. June was in Shaker Heights or Mayfield as a teen. I suggest that June went to boarding school as a teen somewhere in or near Mayfield.

There was an episode of "New Leave It to Beaver" that was a flashback as to how Ward and June met, but I don't remember the story.

They do say that in one of the final season eps, I think in "Lumpy's Scholarship." Wally is disappointed that he did not get an athletic scholarship offer from state, but he still wants to go there, and then he says, "You guys met at State, didn't you?" This might not be consistent with background info alluded to in earlier episodes.

It's either that ep or "Ward's Fraternity," another one where Wally is making plans to attend.
