Why did John Goodman miss a lot of episode?Did he think Roseanne was dominant?

I think he just didn't wanna sign on for the last season because he was getting tired of doing the show.

The other reason why is because supposedly he was supposed to die of the hard attack in season 8 and the show was supposed to end but it kept going and he had already signed on to do the big lewbowski which took up most of his time in the 9th season.
