Free song is a classic. It came out in 1977 i believe & Maurice White of Earth Wind & Fire produced it. Mic Geronimo sampled Free for S**t's Real song & Lords Of The Underground also sampled it for Faith song. Deniece actually sang on Faith song cause i saw her in the video. Silly song is a nice love song. KRS One sampled it for My People song. He speeded up the sample though.

I love me some Deniece Williams. My songs are Black Butterfly, and Let's hear it for the boy.

I like Free and love Silly. I didn't like Silly when it came out because my sister played that song to DEATH!!! It's Gonna Take A Miracle is another favorite I was surprised to find out it was sang by The Royalettes in the 60's! Baby Baby My love is all for You is another great song. Let's Hear it for the Boy is a dog for me!!!

I really liked Silly in 1982, when it was on the radio ALOt in NYC. Surprisingly to me, it was a chart hit in the fall of 1981, so my radio station was late on it. By the time it was on the radio in my area her next album (the one with It's Gonna Take a Miracle on it) was beginning to move up the charts.
Yeah, Deneice Williams' version of It's Gonna Take A Miracle is a remake, yet it was on the strength of her version that the grammies nominated it (and her) for two grammies- r&b song and R&b female vocal. |
