DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHY SOME "ANDY" SHOWS AIRED TO THIS DAY ARE USING/HAVE USED THAT TITLE???

I have never seen that titlle in syndication but originally it was titled that when it went in so these are probably very old films of the show being shown.

During the original run of "The Andy Griffith Show," CBS began to show reruns of TAGS during the daytime hours. To reduce confusion they re-titled the show "Andy of Mayberry." When TAGS original run was over the titles were changed back but when VIACOM began looking for "uncut" episodes, some of the best ones still had the "Andy of Mayberry" title on them and the tape distributors didn't fix it. They sometimes show up on your local stations, too, so be on the lookout.

I've seen the same situation in the past on a few of TV Land's reruns of The Dick Van Dyke Show's first season. Instead of running that season's credits, which had a photo montage, TV Land runs footage of Rob Petrie tripping over the Ottoman w/ the cast members' names shown on screen instead of read by the announcer. The title of the show on these eps is "The Daytime Dick Van Dyke Show", which CBS used for its morning reruns of The Dick Van Dyke Show. These reruns began in the fall of 1965, when The DVD Show was in its last original primetime season, so CBS used the alternate title to prevent confusion w/ the primetime eps. Happy Days reruns originally used the title "Happy Days Again" in syndication and Laverne & Shirley reruns used "Laverne & Shirley & Company" for the same reason. This practice seems to have died out in the 80s, since Seinfeld and Friends reruns ran under the same name while they were still on network, and no one seemed to be confused by then.

oh, so that IS the reason some DVD episodes have the title "The Dick Van Dyke daytime show". I've always wondered why that is.

Cause I remember, back when N@N started showing the reruns, they first showed a week-long marathon of it, and some of the shows had that title.
