Here is a thread where all news articles can go. This way people who like news threads can read it, and people who dont like them dont even have to see the headlines.

Police: Pregnant woman kills attacker

Friday, February 11, 2005 Posted: 1:48 PM EST (1848 GMT)

FORT MITCHELL, Kentucky (AP) -- A nine-months pregnant woman fought off and killed a knife-wielding woman who may have been trying to steal the baby, police said Friday.

Police said 26-year-old Sarah Brady acted in self-defense in killing Katherine Smith on Thursday. No charges were filed.

Smith, 22, had been falsely telling neighbors for weeks that she was pregnant, and a search of her apartment after her death revealed a full baby nursery, investigators said.

"She had everything in place that you'd expect to have in place with a newborn coming," said Steve Hensley, police chief in this Cincinnati suburb.

Brady, 26, was treated for cuts at a hospital.

Police said that about a week ago, Smith called Brady, a stranger, and asked her to come over and pick up a mistakenly delivered package.

Brady picked up the package, the two spoke briefly and she left, according to police.

Thursday's attack occurred after Brady went to pick up a second package at Smith's apartment, police said.

In December, a Missouri woman was strangled and her baby was cut from her womb. The baby was later found alive, and a Kansas woman was charged with kidnapping resulting in death.

I would like to see this trend of news stories slow down myself, but to expect all news stories to go on one thread isn't the best idea. It's also a moderator's decision. Most news stories generate interest and replies, so I'd prefer to leave it be for the time being.

Remember, Prince Charles getting married, celebrity deaths, etc., these are news stories too.

I do ask that members stop posting so many news stories. It is getting out of hand.

mine was posted in an already existing thread.

and for real.. starting a whole new thread without even checking to see if it's already mixed in with the other 500 news threads on the page. be considerate, will you, and AT LEAST save thread space for another annoying article that hasn't been posted.

Mom Allegedly Beats Sons Over Marijuana

SMYRNA, Ga. - A mother has been arrested for throwing cans of beer at her children and beating her oldest son after he refused to roll joints for her, police said.

Beverly Fisher, 48, was arrested Wednesday after her 11-year-old son called police and told them that his intoxicated mother was in possession of drugs and threw beer at him, said Lt. Keith Zgonc of the Smyrna Police Department.

Marijuana and several beer cans were found in the home, he said.

The oldest son, 14, said his mother assaulted him after he refused to roll marijuana cigarettes for her, Zgonc said, and the 11-year-old had scratches from where Fisher had thrown a knife at him during an earlier incident.

You should make this a sticky. Just a suggestion because sometimes there are slow news days and this thread could move to the bottom or to the next page and new people can't see the thread.

I kid you not, a Canadian national news anchor cracked up on the air after watching a report about the upcoming royal wedding in which a Quebec radio personality put it bluntly as he could by saying,"who gives a rat's ass?"
