Since Fleet mentioned the 1966-71 Mopar on the Volkswagen Picture Thread, I thought it'd be a good idea to show off some Chryslers, Imperials, Plymouths, Dodges, DeSotos, and maybe some Fargoes. I'm going to start with a pair of 1972 Plymouth Furys.

Uh-oh, a police car... run!
All right, a Mopar thread! The one on the top is a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T with 426-Hemi engine (425 hp.). Depending on the axle ratio, it would do 0-60 mph ranging from the high 4s to the high 5s, and mid-13-second 1/4 miles at 105 mph. With 3.23 gears, these cars could top out at well over 140 mph. Pretty heavy cars with the big Hemi engine with a weight of right around 4,000 lbs. The bottom car is a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A, a one-year only mode with a 340-6 Pack engine (275 hp [purposely underrated]), and could run 0-60 times of 5.8 seconds and 1/4 miles of 14.3 secs @ 99 mph (on '60s tires). |

Maybe my favorite muscle car (along with the '69 Charger):
1969 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 Magnum. Wow! Can seat 5-6 people and still run low 14/high 13-sec 1/4 miles. |

1957 Chrysler 300-C. 392-Hemi, 375 horsepower (390 hp. was also available).
126" wheelbase, 4,300 lbs, 0-60 mph in 7.7 secs. and a 140+ mph top speed. Nice fins, real leather interior and room for 6. |

BTW, don't let anyone tell you that all American cars can't handle. Plenty were made that could. For instance, here is a 1957 Plymouth Fury taking a curve at 90 mph...

Yeah, what's that make... about 8 car threads in 6 years of SO!
If anything, we need more! More interesting than posting a thread, "Are you bored?" |
