yes i do agree carl handle the problem in the wrong way , I feel if we push people out of our lives and homes because of a drinking problem the person will drink more we should help them seek help and show them love not kick them out, Becky

Does anyone remember the episode where Laura and Steve were at a party on a rooftop, and someone spikes the punch? Steve ends up drinking a bit too much punch, and ends up performing lots of physical humor while in his drunken stupor, which the audience seems to get a kick out of. Then all of a sudden Laura finds out that Urkel is drunk, and screams in horror, "Do you think this is funny?!?!". Well, the audience was laughing at Urkel's funny antics while he was drunk, so I guess it was supposed to be funny, right? All I learned is that drinking is funny.

I guess that's the problem with trying to incorporate "serious" issues like this into a sitcom. A sitcom is supposed to have numerous humurous situations in each episode(in theory), and the entire episode really can't have a serious tone to it. I think Family Matters tried to handle too many serious issues, and ended up incorporating them into episodes in a rather tasteless way.

Oh please. Family Matters rocks. Urkel was just being Urkel. The "message" in it was slammed home when Laura reacted like she did. It's a funny show, i wouldn't have changed anything about that episode where Urkel was drunk. (was funny scene).
I vaguely remember seeing bits and pieces of the Eddie drunk show, didn't he wreck his car or let someone else drive it or something?

That was a good episode of Family Matters it was funny but then got serious when Urkel was hanging from the roof. Interesting note the kid who spiked his punch was Larenz Tate from movies like Menance II Society, Dead Presidents, Love Jones, etc

You guys are thinking of Shavar Ross. Shavar
Ross played Dudley on Diff'rent Strokes and
he also played Weasal on Family Matters.

I just saw the Eddie episode this past week. As a person who has several alcoholics in my family, I'd agree that Carl handled it the wrong way. It didn't seem as if Eddie was drinking out of depression rather than out of fun, although he did get out of control. Perhaps Carl could have done a BAC Test and showed Eddie what underage drinking could look like from a criminal standpoint. But throwing Eddie out was the wrong thing.

Well, what do you expect? It was the 7th season...
From that season on, the characters got stupider and stupider...
and I'm serious.

Before I can respond, I'd need to see the episode(s)(if it was a 2-parter). does anybody have any idea of when it'll be on next on TBS?
