Will Mullally, LuPone and Chenoweth Share a Concert Bill? By Andrew Gans 10 Feb 2005 A concert evening with "Will & Grace" star Megan Mullally and Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Kristin Chenoweth could become a reality. Mullally, who will offer two concerts at the Frederick P. Rose Hall's Allen Room Feb. 11, told gossip columnist Liz Smith, "This summer I'm hoping to put together some concerts with Patti LuPone and Kristin Chenoweth. But don't get me wrong, just because I have this other interest doesn't mean I don't love 'Will & Grace.' We hope to go on several more seasons and wreak more havoc." Mullally and Chenoweth are currently both appearing on the NBC network, Mullally in the aforementioned "Will & Grace" and Chenoweth in the current season of "The West Wing." Former Evita star LuPone recently guested on "Will & Grace," where she had the opportunity to perform part of her signature tune, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina." Best known for her role as Karen on the Emmy-winning NBC series "Will & Grace," Megan Mullally appeared on Broadway opposite Matthew Broderick in the revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and portrayed Marty in the most recent revival of Grease! Her one woman musical, Sweetheart, played a sold-out run in Los Angeles. Tickets for her Feb. 11 concert with her band, the Supreme Music Program, are available by calling (212) 721-6500 or by visiting www.lincolncenter.org. Kristin Chenoweth, who received a Tony nomination for her work as Glinda in Stephen Schwartz's Wicked, made her New York theatrical debut opposite Bill Irwin in a production of Moličre's Scapin and followed that with a role in Kander and Ebb's Steel Pier. Roles in Off-Broadway's A New Brain, the Broadway comedy Epic Proportions and the City Center Encores! productions of Strike Up the Band and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever ensued. Chenoweth won her Tony for her performance as Sally Brown in the Broadway bow of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. She can also be seen this season on the hit NBC drama "The West Wing." A Tony Award winner for her work in Evita, Patti LuPone also earned an Olivier Award for her performances in the West End productions of Lés Misérables and The Cradle Will Rock. Her other theatrical credits include Sunset Boulevard, Anything Goes, Oliver!, Working, The Old Neighborhood, Master Class and Pal Joey. LuPone also headlined two solo Broadway concerts, Patti LuPone On Broadway and Matters of the Heart, and received glowing notices for her performance as Mrs. Lovett in the Lincoln Center concert version of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. For the past four summers she has appeared in concert versions of Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, Passion, A Little Night Music and Sunday in the Park with George at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago, IL. |
