the article sounds promising. I think MTV-2 realizes really how many viewers they lost when they cut down on rock for "Sucka Free Sundays". MTV-2 has always been more slanted in an alternative/indie fanbase since it started, people who really don't care about Jay-Z or Ludacris, but MTV-2 still shoved it down the viewers' throats.
I'm glad they've received enough negative emails over it. Realizing that their audience is more slanted to indie rock, while hip hop fans have MTV, BET and even VH1 sometimes, is the first step in the right direction. let's hope this "new MTV-2" lives up to the promise, because the station started out so promising and went downhill dramatically. People who watch MTV-2 would rather see Sonic Youth than Jennifer Lopez, but programmers didn't get that. |
