I swear I think she really hit it because when he got up he looked like he was about to cry ( or maybe he was just acting).

I thought last nights episode was disgusting. Anyone that condones or finds humour in sexual violence of domestic violence is a sad exuse for a human being - what kind of message is that? Or is it only unacceptable when perpetrated on a woman? By the wayt ... to the sick ones that thought that was funny - I notice you didn't have the courage to attach your name.

It's TV. It's humor. It's not real life.
Don't take it so seriously. I'd hardly call
it violent. And so what if we don't use our
real names-what difference does it make?
Maybe you should stick to Full House reruns or Leave it to Beaver. I don't think anyone who saw humor in it are necessarily sick.

MTM fan is your name because you lack that integrity to display your name when you know you have said something immoral. That is a typical cowards response. And no, it's not just a tv show - people are affected by the onslought of what they see in many ways. I am a survivor of violent sexual abuse as a child at the hands of one of my aunts and I can tell you that I, and the millions of others that see that sort of crap, experience tormenting flashbacks. It also has a desensitizing effect on people like you - really think about what you have written and tell everyone whether you would think it would be funny if he elbowed her breasts and she fell to the ground in pain. Would you laugh at that?

Why shouln't I talk about. Maybe talking about it helps prevent it from happening to others. But as long as there is exposure that makes light of it - it will continue. You didn't answer my quetion Chritine - would you find sexual violence and domestic violence funny if perpetrated on a woman? I think not - neither would I. There is a serious double standard and it is affecting society. Is that the type of society you would want your son/daughter to grow up in. I would hope not. Neither do I. We are ridding ourselves of racism and sexism by no longer finding humour in it because it is not funny. Yet you cannot see that the same to be true with sexual and domestic violence - or is it that you don't see it as that because it is perpetrated on a man? The reason I wanted to know your names was to see if you were a woman ... I was right. And my name is not skippy Christine it is Stephen. Judging by your language you must be quite young.

Again, I'm sorry about what was done to you but bringing it up on a message board post makes no sense. This is a board about ELR not "Stephen's childhood experiences". And I hate to keep repeating myself but this is television. Patricia didn't actually hit Ray there. And I wasn't laughing at the fact that she hit him in the crotch but rather the way he reacted to it. She could have slapped his hand and if he reacted to it the same way I would have found it hilarious. And if my age is a problem for you then don't reply.

Christina, I guess it comes with the territory. As I have said, I cannot imagine finding humour in sexual/domestic violence. We have begun to rid ourselves of sexism/racism by not finding humour in them and by seeing them as serious issues. I, and the millions of others that have gone through what I have see sexual/domestic violence in no different light. I do not want you/me/our children to grow up in a society that finds humour in any of the above. Based on your last addition I have obviously misinterpreted you. I appologize for that as well as the comment regarding your age. It is fortunate for you that this sort of imagery has little effect other than to further desensitize you to these issues. tv does have a very strong impact on society in many ways. By the way, whoever Shocolah and Wings Fan are ... you both have serious moral issues to consider. I would guarantee that neither of you have the courage or integrity to divulge your names. People like you get onto a forum like this and express your sickening viewpoints ... which you never would in a group of people because lack courage in open light ... but will here because you know that (just like a rat) you can do as you wish and hide in the dark. Whoever thought that episode is hilarious is not sick. That wasn't domestic violence all she did was elbow him to be quiet she didn't me to hurt him. Its not like she was beating him up. Stephen, I'm sorry you had to experience what you did and I'm sorry I ever posted this topic. Had I known that someone would find such offense to it, I never would have posted it. As for posting my real name-I'm not going to do it-think what you will. I don't think abuse or violence is funny at all in real life. I know you probably don't respect me or anyone who won't post their real name-that's fine. I'll stick with the 95 percent of the others out there that don't do it either. More than anything, I was shocked by what happened which caused me to laugh. If I see the episode again, I doubt that I'll think it's funny.

Shocolah, I do have respect for you based on your last addition. I too am sorry for the very many that experience that. not just myself. anyway, i appreciate the words.
