Marineland Carnival with the Munsters, was a CBS special that aired on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1965. It's pretty much an episode of The Munsters visiting Marineland.

I hope the Marineland show gets included in the second season DVD set. I haven't seen it since it first aired in 65. I do remember little bits and pieces, but not much...

You know what today is? Easter Sunday! Exactly 40 years ago today that Marineland Carnival aired on CBS!

Too bad I don't have a time machine to go back in time and watch it. I would take my TV with me, and record it. That would be really special since VCRs weren't around until the late 70's.

The only footage of the Carnival I got is the commercial where they drive up in the Koach.

DP, do you remember if the Carnival was a half hour or an hour?

I don't remember. On April 18, 1965, I was 8 years old. Time had no meaning, (that I recall anyway...)

Just wondering, because Image listed the Marineland Carnival on the Family of Fright DVD listed it as 1 hr.

**********

I was wrong it was listed as 60 seconds. I thought it said 60 minutes. Go to my last post below.

I e-mailed Image Entertaionment about their Munster DVD and if they knew what was going to be included in the Universal second season release. Here's their reply:

"As of this point in time Image Entertainment does not have any plans regarding the release of this title on DVD. Unfortunately you will need to contact Universal in order to determine what their plans are regarding the release of the second Munsters DVD Collection."

So, I don't know if it'll ever be released OR if it will be included in the second season collection OR will be released by itself at a later date OR won't be released at all. Who knows?

I know proof positive that the DVD will be released. How? I'll tell you how. Because there is no way Image would spend big money on remastering Munsters rarities, and then not even sell them.

So rest assured the DVD will probably come out in the near future, or might be added to the Munsters Season 2 box set. Either way, I don't mind, just as long as we get them.

Wait a minute! I just learned from this site, http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/mu...irstfamily.php that the Family of Fright DVD was not going to have the whole Marineland Carnival on it, just the 60 second commercial for it. Does this mean we will never see the Marineland Carnival?

The actual Marineland Carnival special has been deemed "lost." Apparently a 16mm copy did exist at Marineland in the early 1980s, though, so perhaps it's out there some where.

I'm sure a copy must exist at either, Universal, Marineland, CBS, or the Library of Congress. Someone must have it!

I dropped an e-mail to Marineland. They mailed back and said that they are also unable to locate a copy of the show. They said that there's sure to be a copy somewhere, but they didn't know where. They also added that if they do find a copy, they'd let me know and asked me to do the same.

They sent this picture along, as well.

I think the best person for this job would be Kevin Burns! Kev is the world's largest Monsters and Munsters fan. He owns all 70 eps of the series on 35mm film. And has racks and racks full of catalogs and magazines about The Munsters.

I'm sure he has, or must know where to get an original copy of Marineland Carnival with The Munsters.
