Default Parent show and spinoff question

Name some parent shows you liked better than the spinoff, and the spinoff you like better than the parent show.

I liked Cheers and Friends better than Frasier and Joey.

Can't think of a spinoff I liked better than the parent show.

After watching the Soap season 3 dvd last week, I was surprised to see that Benson lasted longer. Soap is my favorite between the two.

I love Moesha, hate the Parkers.

The only spinoff I can think of off the top of my head liking more than the parent show is A Different World over the Cosby Show.

I like Diff'rent Strokes more than the Facts of Life, Mary Tyler Moore more than Rhoda/Phyllis, Three's Company of course more than the Ropers or Three's A Crowd, but I like all of those shows.

Others, I like fairly equally:
All In The Family/Jeffersons
Happy Days/Laverne & Shirley

I like Cheers more than Frasier (although Frasier is my second favorite show)

I like Friends more than Joey

However....
I like The Facts of Life more than Diff'rent Strokes.
Laverne & Shirley AND Mork & Mindy more than Happy Days.
And most definitely The Jeffersons more than AITF. (although I like AITF a lot too)

As for Soap vs. Benson.... Benson is better IMO.

I like "Mary Tyler Moore" better than "Rhoda," but I like "Wings" better than "Cheers." (Sorry "Cheers" fans - I don't hate the show, it's just I got more into "Wings" for whatever reason!)

Huh? Wings wasn't a spinoff of Cheers.

I'd also say Good Times, but that might start something...

I'll start it. Good Times was a spinoff of a spinoff. Florida was on Maude as her maid. Then she went on to Good Times. I like Good Times much better than Maude. Good Times shot itself in the foot by putting too much focus on J.J. I thought James and Florida was great together and too bad there no stories more on their relationship. Killing the character of James Evans off killed the show as well. The first three seasons of Good Times was priceless.

I liked Mary Tyler Moore much better than Rhoda/Phyllis. Those two spinoffs lacked direction.

I liked Andy Griffith much better than Mayberry R.F.D. That was a boring show.

The Cosby Show was better than A Different World.

All In the Family was priceless compared to Maude. Maude was too one dimensional and it got tiring to watch. Applause to Bea Arthur to knowing when to call it quits.

Alice was far better than Flo. Flo was a supporting player and putting her out there alone was not good. She was at its best around Mel and the gang.
