I thought that it would be interesting to share any stories everyone may have about life's lessons we have each learned by making mistakes.
I have learned MANY, of which I can only remember a few right now: 1. no matter how scared you are of rejection, always take that chance to ask someone you like out - the "perfect time" may NEVER come, and you could regret it forever afterwards. 2. never try to launch a career as an amateur acrobat while drunk 3. never try to use the oven or other major appliances while visiting your non-cooking bachelor brother's apartment 4. when the smoke alarm goes off because you just learned #3, NEVER jump on the nearest item just to rip out the batteries/turn the thing off (for me it was my brother's drum stool - it spun and I fell and landed on it, breaking 5 ribs) more to come... |

5. if you have leftovers in the fridge and you can't remember what DAY they were from, just throw them out (food poisoning is a very painful lesson to learn)
6. more on leftovers - if you can't identify WHAT exactly those leftovers ARE, you are probably better off throwing them out too. 7. no matter how much you wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/mother/significant other insists that you DON'T need to buy them a present for their birthday/anniversary/valentines/christmas/hannuka/groundhog day what they REALLY MEAN is "this is a test to see how much you pay attention and how well you really know me". or "you'd better buy me something REALLY good this time, or you'll WISH that you get to be in the doghouse". |

Listen to your mother when she tries to tell you you won't be happy moving 2hrs away from home. She was right.

If you have to go to the bathroom, DO NOT HESITATE. GO.
One time, I went to meet Paige Davis. And after standing in line for several hours, I had to pee. My mother went to the bathroom, but I didn't want to leave in case I missed something exciting. My mom comes back and says "OMG...On my way to the bathroom, I was walking down this hallway, and Paige and her people walked out of a back room and walked by me." *glare* |

Lesson I learned...
Rocking chairs DO tip over backwards if you apply too much pressure rocking back...this can be especially painful if there's a plexiglass door immediately behind the chair. Concussion #17 |

How about the episode of Rescue 911 where a little girl in Fresno, California fall back in a high chair into a window and had her intestines lacerated by the glass? A painful and nearly fatal lesson. |

Lesson: You can walk all day across inches of snow and ice without a problem, but the second you hit a naturally-slick surface (some surfaced metals, tile, etc), your a$$ is gonna fly.

Never fall into a crush with anyone you know ahead of time is immature. Some boys never grow up.
