Default New Edition's Self Titled Album

This is a classic album. It came out in 1984. My favorite songs on here are Cool It Now, Mr Telephone Man, I'm Leaving You Again, Baby Love, Delicious, My Secret, Hide & Seek.

I like these songs from the album "Cool It Now" and "Mr. Telephone Man". For example, "Mr. Telephone Man" does sound a lot like Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio. Has anybody remembered the song "Candy Girl"? It was their first record off the album of the same name on a label called Street Wise Records. That was a year before they went to MCA (merged and became Geffen) to do their album. I know any of these early songs by New Edition like "Is This The End?", "Jealous Girl" and "Popcorn Love". those are their early New Edition songs. Maurice Starr did produced that album before he produced albums by New Kids on the Block, their self-titled album, "Hangin' Tough" and "Merry, Merry Christmas". I love those guys.

Is it produced by Maurice Starr, the one who produced the New Kids on the Block albums?

Maurice Starr produced the entire Candy Girl album. I also like their Popcorn Love song. Mase & Another Bad Creation did remakes of New Edition's Jealous Girl song.

Did New Edition fire Maurice Starr, or he fired them? I think they let him go. Who knows?

To get this story straight, producer Maurice Starr fired them after only one album "Candy Girl". He also produced another album by the Stylistics in 1985 called "A Special Style". It bombed. I like the songs "I Believe in You", "Sad Girl" and "O Sha Mae". These are just rare stuff. Street Wise Records was shut down in the mid or late 80's while Maurice was looking for some talent, he met New Kids on the Block and produced their self-titled debut album in 1986 followed by "Hangin' Tough" in 1988, "Merry, Merry Christmas" in 1989 and "Step By Step" in 1990.

Why did Maurice fire New Edition? Was it because their Candy Girl album didn't sell well?

!# Die Hard New Edition Fan here. N.E got rid of Maurice Starr for the age ols reason. they weren't getting their fare share of the money from Candy Girl and all their performances. I think Bobby Brown even said on MTV years ago that the only thing they got from Starr was $1000 and a VCR . When they jumped ship from StreetWise (Maurice Sarr's label) to MCA Records. Starr sued them over the name "New Edition" stating that he picked and owned the name, and he wanted to use it for a new group ( remember he discovered New Kids On The Block!! ). The Judege of course ruled in New Edition 's favor

LOL@Maurice gave them $1,000 & a vcr hahahahahahahahahahahaha. The music industry is so shady when it comes time for artists to get paid fairly.

And remember they were like 14,15 years old aat the time so it was literally (sp) like taken "candy" from a baby! Unfortunately I hear that teir latest album isn't getting the push it deserve from Bad Boy.

New Edition shouldn't have signed with Bad Boy anyway. Their career is over to me. They should've stopped singin after their reunion album Home Again. That's messed up that Maurice gave them $1,000. I know they had to split the money 5 ways. What the hell are they gonna do with $200 apiece? LOL.
