Default TV Land Awards 2005

It is almost time for the annual TV Land Awards show. It will be aired in March. The people's choice voting is currently going on over at TVLand.com. The Dick Van Dyke Show and The Mary Tyler Moore Show are up in a couple of the categories. I voted this morning for the Dick Van Dyke categories. MTM and DVD were facing off in the Best Dream Sequence category. I voted for "It May Look Like a Walnut," but it was up againts the MTM episode "Mary's Three Husbands" where Murray, Ted and Lou all fantasize about being married to Mary, which is one of my favorite MTM episodes. It was a tough choice!!! Just wanted to let you all know, in case that sort of thing interests you!

I don't understand the TV Land Awards really at all. Yes, it is nice to see all the stars of our favorite television shows together again, but what will happen after we celebrate all the major comedies, which should be in about two or three more years? There aren't an endless number of classic television shows, and I don't think that, say in five years, they will "re-honor" the Dick Van Dyke Show, the Mary Tyler Moore Show, etc. Also, why are only comedies being honored? Aren't Little House on the Prairie and the Waltons classic enough to deserve recognition?

Okay, I was annoyed! In the Best Detective category there was no Remington Steele.

I did vote for Walnut, however, despite my tiff!

Algebra,
I think what will happen is that more people will come to watch these shows and form different opinions about what a "favorite" is. I remember "The Cosby Show" airing on NBC like it was yesterday, but it wasn't. It was 21 years ago. At that time, "TDVDS" and "Andy Griffith" were already "classics." Now, "Cosby" is a classic show. That generation of kids and teens are now parents, or soon will be (right Carrie? ). They're views and tastes will likely differ from TDVDS era "kids" like me. So yes, there is "an endless number of classic shows."
Also Algebra, it's possible that they will rehonor older classics, if the younger viewers vote and watch in enough numbers. If some savvy producer figures he can make a successful show of it, they'll do it. Look at how many times TDVDS has been honored over the decades. I hope it will remain as popular in the new millenium.

I loved the article about Laura Petrie, but I didn't get the last line about "massive therapy bills." What was that supposed to mean?

Lolac,
That line actually made me think twice about posting the link. It's the writer's attempt at "blue" humor. The most polite way to put it is to say he's suggesting that Laura is so sexy that even if she were someone's Mom they couldn't help but be attracted to her, causing them to question their mental stability and eventually need therepy to get over it all.
I didn't think it was funny, and I only posted it because I figured the line would just be glossed over by most. I hope I haven't offended anyone .
Lolac,
I must say, I truely find your innocence refreshing. There should be more people like you in the world, and maybe it wouldn't be so messed up. I'm glad there's a smiley face with a halo so I could post it for you .
You're a gem, but of course Kolac already knows that!
