'Desperate Housewives' Demand Bigger Paychecks
The stars of hit American sitcom Desperate Housewives have reportedly threatened a revolt over their small salaries. Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria and Nicolette Sheridan are all demanding bigger paychecks to cash in on the worldwide success of the ABC series that won two Golden Globe Awards last week, reports Britain's Daily Star Sunday newspaper. More than 40 countries have snapped up the dark comedy and it is currently number one in the US ratings, regularly pulling in more than 30 million viewers. An insider at Touchstone Television says, "The girls are fuming. Their salaries range from $47,000 to $76,000 an episode - which is peanuts compared to the cash coming in from selling it around the world. It's crazy when you compare it with the $1.8 million-a-show the stars of Friends were making. No one's suggesting they're worth that much. But they do deserve a slice of the big bucks they're generating." In an interview with America's People magazine last month, Sheridan complained, "I'm the poorest actress on television. I heard (the cast of) Friends got cars when they had such amazing ratings. But I got flowers. I'm still waiting for the Porsche."
I doubt that this isn't true (hope it isn't either!)

What they're making is alot...though I can see if they're annoyed...they're almost the #1 show on TV but the #1 NEW show on TV

Think this is gossip or truth?

It wouldn't surprise me if it's the truth. If I were them I think I would want more money also.

I hope it isn't true that they're planning a 'revolt' but I wouldn't be surprised that the fact that they're asking for more money is true. I mean, hey, they're popular, they should cash in on that while they can!

You know, let them revolt. I mean, there's more to life than money. Good night..

Sorry jayman name calling isn't necessary, we don't even know if this is true or not, there's so much crap being spread out there, which happens with casts of popular shows.

I don't blame them if it is true. Disney stars almost make the same amount per episode, so these women should get pay rises since the show is such a big hit.

I think this article is true, and if it is, they deserve raises, DH singlehandedly saved ABC from a 10 year ratings slump. They basically (with the help of Lost) took ABC out of the 4th place slot it was in for a very long time.

They're worth this money and more, and Disney is gonna look pretty bad if they don't give them some kind of raise, considering what the Friends stars made, and their show didn't really take off big time till the second season.

On the other hand, the Friends cast were not making the millions upon millions per season they were making in the final few years when the show first started. And who knows, Desperate Housewives could tank next season. Great ratings are one thing. Being able to keep those ratings is another. So far, the season has been going up, up, up. That may entail the actresses to some pay raises.

But I think waiting until next season would be a fair thing to do. If ABC starts dishing out more cash and the show bottoms out, well, was the extra money worth it?

I agree, if the show is still doing this well next season, then they definitely deserve raises
