Question Designing Women cast question?

My question is, Was Delta Burke and Jean Smart fired from the show. What im thinking is delta was fired and Jean just left, but not sure. Were Dixie Carter and Delta mad at each other and not friends while the show was going and after the show. I recently heard that they made up and i wasnt sure what that meant. And one more question, Julia Duffy left the show as well to, right. If someone could help me out and let me know that would be great, thanks.

Hi,
I'm sure Delta was fired and Jean left the show because she wanted to spend more time with her family. I'm not sure why Julia left. Dixie & Delta were mad at each other, but in a recent Delta Burke chat, she said that they had made up!

I hope this helps!

The reason Julia Duffy left is beacuse she didnt really like her character Allison she said in an interview before she kinda liked it but wanted out after one season

Yeah, I heard that Julia Duffy was kind of tired playing stuck up characters. I think she plays them well (not to say she is stuck up) because she has this attitude about her and because she played Stephanie on Newhart for 7 years!

JULIA: Please, if you really want to feel like crying try being one of those women who hold down a job, raise a family on the side, watch their legal rights erode year after year, and are still being told that women's liberation went to far. That ought to make you feel like crying. Hhhoooo!

Julia and Carlene are talking about a poll on the Flinstones sexuality that was in the newspaper...
ALLISON: I can't believe you two are talking about cartoon character's sexuality. They're two dementinal.
CARLENE: Well gee, Allison. So are you.

I agree Julia plays them well and she is not stuck up. i heard she is very nice. and she was nominated for emmys for Newhart several times and never won. that sucks. she was on there 7 years so she deserved one

Delta Burke was not fired. She just did not renew her contract when it was done. I believe it was a mutual decision.

Both Delta and Julia Duffy were, in fact, fired. Relations between Delta and the producers were increasingly tense during the fifth season. To appease Delta, CBS and Columbia hired Janis Hirsch ("Anything but Love") to take over as executive producer from Linda and Harry Thomason, who created the show, in the sixth season. CBS' thinking was that the Thomasons had their hands full with "Evening Shade" and wouldn't mind. But the Thomasons were furious, and insisted on retaining creative control of the show (they owned a piece of it). So Hirsch was dropped, and Delta's option wasn't picked up for the sixth year.

Then, a year later, CBS only agreed to pick the declining show up for a seventh year if Duffy, who was playing a very unpopular character, was let go.

*grrr!*

I can't STAND the episodes after "Suzanne", and "Charlene" left. Sure, there are a few funny parts, but jeez!! Suzanne and Charlene are my favorite characters! By the way, Who the HECK is the woman after Allison left? Just wanted to share my views, even though you probably all think I'm stupid, but nonetheless I think the show was better when Suzanne and Charlene were on it.

Default Actually....

No one was FIRED.....Delta left because of the tense relationship on the show and Julia left because she didn't like her character and frankly...neither did anyone else. And yes, Delta and Dixie WERE in a fight, they were great friends for the first few seasons of DW, because they had worked together on Filthy Rich, but when the weight issue arrose with Delta, and Dixie wouldn't take her side(Dixie didn't take either side) Delta got mad at her. She said she felt like she was betrayed by both Dixie and Hal..and that's what hurt the most. They recently did make up. I believe in 99, and now everything is back to normal, but I just don't know how normal "normal" is between those two after everything like that happened....
