My cards always reflect the level of my affection for the person. If it's a casual friend or relative, the sentiment in the card I choose reflects that. If I adore the person, I can spend an hour at the card store. I buy my cards at a Hallmark Store, unless I don't care too much, in which case I'll pick it up at Walgreens or even the supermarket.
I read cards that I receive carefully as well. I have two stepdaughters. One is like a real daughter to me while, although I love her sister, we never grew as close. When my birthday comes around, I see the difference in their cards. One mentions love while the other is more along the lines of "Hope your birthday is a special as you." Where do you buy your cards...are you particular about choosing the right cards or do you pick them up on the fly? Do you lean more towards humorous or sentimental cards? Do you save cards that you receive? |

I generally stick with the humorous ones, but for people I don't know as well, I'll go with something that at least has a kitty and a nice message. My place is cluttered with cards going years back. I always like having that nice little touch.

if its a person i really care for, i send either cards i've made or cards that make no sence.
I gave my friend a kwanzaa card for christmas, she laughed. |

I usually buy cards from the 99 cents store... like 25 for a dollar or something.
Unless someone is really special to me, I really dont bother. Otherwise, I'll get one from Hallmark or something- usually something humorous. As for this one person who's REALLY special to me, I made a pop-up card. ![]() And yup, I throw away my cards, unless it's from someone special. I'm horrible, I know, LOL. But seriously, some of the cards I receive are just terrible. It would've been better if they had not given me one at all. |

I hate cards, yet Ill spend an hour picking out one sometimes. I dont do sappy ones either, ugh. I go for the funny ones only. And I dont like cards that take half a day to read. And I save my cards. Wherever they are.

Same here. Like that line of Hallmark cards called 'Between You and Me'. They're real long, and it's like reading a book.

I dunno....I bought my aunt a birthday card today...It said something about being the coolest person in the family. My mom said it was dumb, so I found a mushy one and didn't even read the whole thing. My mom then said that my aunt will cry. *blinks* I didn't even know people read cards.

Well, having worked for a major greeting card company for many years, I've seen them all. I was even in a promotional video when American Greetings introduced the (now dead) CreataCard machine.
I've still got boxes of cards, because I didn't like sending the ones from the company I worked for to good friends and family since they'd think I got them cheap or for free. Unfortunately, AG and Hallmark have priced themselves right off the market and that's why they're in trouble right now. I usually send humourous cards. My mother always used to say she knew she was going to die if I ever sent her a sentimental card! I just hate the sappy, rhyming ones - they're cheesy. Give me a good old knock 'em down funny one anytime.I still send out Christmas cards, but the list is getting smaller all the time. Used to be I'd send out about 200 - now I'm lucky if it's 10 or so. I just love giving someone a "sympathy" card on their 40th, 45th, 50th etc. birthday. I'm surprised nobody gave me one on my 40th in retaliation. |

I am very picky when I'm trying to find a card, especially for birthdays of my family or mother's day and father's day. Alot of the cards are so silly anymore. I stand there and look through all of them. I hate the sappy, rhyming ones, too. In fact, sometimes I stand there and read them outloud in a sarcastic voice because they are so cheesy. I used to mail out alot of Christmas cards, too!! It was over a 100 at one time. Now it's only about 30-40. I usually just buy one of those economy boxes for the Christmas cards. That is a great idea buying a sympathy card for the 40 and over crowd!! I might do something like that when my sister turns 40!! And yes, I do save all my cards--from my grandmother's and she's been dead 10 years!! All my others, even the ones from my ex-boyfriend. Don't know why I keep those, we've been broken up over a year. Maybe it's time for a 'cleansing bonfire' like the girls did on "Friends"!!!

I throw cards away. They don't mean anything to me.

I usually buy my cards from Hallmark. I take a long time picking out cards for people, don't ask me why. I save all my cards, whether they're from Christmas, my birthday, etc. I save everything
