Drea De Matteo stars as tough-talking, hrad-hitting and gentel loving Anita "Nita" Wilkins a New York City police captain. She heads up the specially created Children and Family unit known as Chaf. whose life passion is to get kids off the streets, out of bad homes and out of foster care and give them the kind of life that she wish she had when she was growing up. She fights for every kid, one day at a time and one case after another.
Each episode of "Another Day" follows Anita as she tries to help yet another kid through what could be the worst possible time in their life, and as she attempts to give them the life that she knows they deserve. She has no scruples and will do whatever she can to achieve this goal. She knows first hand what the harsh realities are for kids who have bad hopes and fading hope. As she grew up in one of the worst possible situations a kid could have. her mother was a crack-addicted prostitute living hell each day as she tried to provide for her children, and her father was killed in prison when she was only seven years old. Her mothers hell extended to home where it was one awful boyfriend after another. Nita's hell was her mothers hell... Nita was sexually abused by her mothers boyfriend when she was thirteen and she snapped, she killed him by shoving him out a third-story window. She spent the next six years of her life in Juvie where she learnt what the world really is. Her mother was killed by a pimp while she was incarcatated and she wants no child to ever go through that again. With the help of an equally tough squad of specially trained cops she tries to help children each day... just so they can make it to "Another Day". CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS: Captain Anita "Nita" Wilkins: SEE ABOVE DESCRIPTION Detective. Eddie Barrister: Dt. Eddie Barrister is the senior detective in the squad. He has a street-smarts approach that never fails him, he has a special hatred for people that sexually harm children and will often fail to use judgement when it comes to these type of crimes. He is also gay and has faced sever harrasment in the past. But is triumphs against all this seemingly without effort. Detective Tony Cooper: Dt. Tony Cooper is the second most senior detective and uses insight from his many years as a city social worker to help get into homes and get witnesses to say what they know. He is recently divorced and looking for love, his ex-wife is none other than fellow detective Meliane Hollister. They work together side-by-side during the day, and at night go home seperatley. Detective Wilson Soragner: Dt. Wilson Soranger is the newest detective at the squad he has four year training in the bomb squad of the N.Y.P.D. and is learning know how to cope with every day contact with actual living people. He has a chip on his shoulder and thinks he is better than the rest of the squad, something that causes conflict with his colloueqs. he is not fond of Nita and hates taking orders from women, something he is slowly learning he needs to get over. Detective Mealine Hollister: Dt. Hollister is the squads voice of reason, always able to be rational and approach things from an intellectual point of view. she is recently divorced from Detective Cooper and is now engaged to be married to city councilman Steven Branson District Attorney: Constance "Connie" Lawrence is the sympathetic ear to this squad as she ruthlessly defends the squad in court and attmepts to get their perps into prison where they belong. She is edcuated at New York University and knows new york like the back of her hand. Detective Benjamen "Benny" Vickers is the ladies-man of the group, suave and charismatic he uses his undeniable influence with the ladies to get inside the heads of all female suspects, witnesses and sometimes victims. He is struggling to overcome the recent death of his sixteen year-old daughter, Tonya who was killed in a drug war with a local teenage gang leader. Officer Terrence Rollins: Terrence Rollins is the youngest member of the squad, straight out of the police academy he was recruited by the squad for being the highest scoring member of his class. He had wanted to train in the homicied unit but because of his father, the mayor's influence was sent to this squad. He resents his fathers constant interference in his life and is struggling to overcome his fathers shadows and make a name for himself. RECCURING CHARACTERS WILL BE EXPLAINED WHEN THEY APPEAR... Kilpatrick Diane Cannon: Judge Hennrietta Tomei Paul Johansson: Mayor David Rollins Kerr Smith: Chet Rollins Sharon Lawerence: Attorney Sophia Toledeo Henry Simmons: Councilman Steven Harper EPISODES: Episode One: "Pilot" Anita is asked by the District Attorney to help start a new program to get teenage prostitutes off the street. Dt's Barrister and Cooper are assigned to a case in a high school where three football players are killed in what seems to be a hazing, but this case is more than it seems, as they soon find out, the three football players were actually killed by the schools principal who wanted to weed them out of team because they are gay. The funeral of her beloved father sends D.A. Constance Lawrence into a tail-spin when she learns that in his will he has left his entire estate, worth an estimated 8 million dollars to her step-sister, who never bothered with him.
