Default Happy Birthday To Me... Thomas in a Tux...

This will probably be the best birthday EVER!
I'm turning 20 today and Thomas Haden Church is at the Golden Globes tonight!
I can't wait to see his outfit... that will be birthday present enough!

Happy Birthday.

When I turned 20, I bought myself a card and passed it around work having everyone sign it. I did it to be funny, but some people felt sorry for me. The next couple years, someone always gave me a card, which was signed by everyone at the store. Except for this past birthday. I wonder why I didn't get anything. Okay now I'm ticked off! All those people can just ... Oh, um, sorry. Happy Birthday again Angefaitore!

Happy 20th Birthday

Yeah it will be so cool seeing Thomas at the Golden Globes. It will totally rock if we see him and Tony Shaloub together sometime during the night

Well, I got one thing... an MP3 player. I've been loading my CD collection on to it, so that's why I haven't been on today (Don't worry, I don't download. I actually buy albums and then put them through the computer.).

I've also been watching Sliders for most of today, but now I'm watching E! to see what they say about Thomas (I have a tape in of course!).

Which episodes of Sliders did you watch today? I've mostly been watching "Monk" on DVD all weekend.

'Last Days', 'Summer of Love'... basically the episodes from seasons 1 and 2.

Happy birthday!

My 20th birthday was memorable, but I wish I could forget it. It was Labor Day weekend 1979, and 2 impacted wisdom teeth had to wait until Tuesday to be removed. I was in agony and, since it was the days before Advil was over-the-counter, there was very little I could do to stop the pain.

The only good thing about that birthday is that, within days of my dental surgery (I had to stay in bed the whole time because the stitches had to come out earlier than the dentist would have liked), I left to spend my junior year of college in France.

Well, Thomas lost. I actually CRIED when they said "Clive Owen... Closer". ARRRGG!
Oh well, at least Thomas dressed up for my birthday! Thank you, Thomas!
His tux was a nice black pants/sportcoat with a shiny creme colored tie. He was really tan from being out in the Texas sun!

I saw "Closer" when it was on Broadway a few years back and did not like it at all. As a result, I have absolutely no desire to see the movie.

But, I love Clive Owen (he was GREAT in "Croupier" and "Gosford Park") and am happy he won an award.

Wouldn't he be wonderful as the new Bond?

Well, Sideways won Best Picture for Comedy/Musical.
That certainly makes up for it.

Those are both classics, in my opinion. I loved the comic pairing of Arturo and Benish in "Last Days". "Summer of Love" seemed a bit silly. I didn't like the kid who played Rembrandt's son (acting wise, I don't know the actual kid). But I'm still a fan of that episode. I also like the episode where Arturo runs for mayor in a world where women are in power. Except the ending always ticks me off.

That sucks about Thomas. But at least he's finally getting recognized for his talents.

Happy Birthday AngeFaitore!!! The best wishes for you...

And Sideways won Best Picture... That's so great... I like the music of the movie. I'm waiting the premier in México, I really want to watch it.

And if you’ll let me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way. (Pause as he gets out the ring.) Monica, will you marry me?

Monica: Yes.

(The crowd goes wild as he puts the ring on her finger. They hug and kiss this time as an engaged couple.)

Clive Owen. WHO?!! I'm not familiar with him at all. Of course, I was truly bummed THC didn't win, but glad to see Sideways win. Hey, Alexander Payne(the director of Sideways) isn't a bad looking guy!! I also would've liked to see Tony Shalhoub win, too.

Well, the good thing out of all this is even though THC didn't win, it is all getting him recognized and really taken more seriously as an actor, hence, getting more & more great roles. I'm certainly not downing anything THC has done in the past, but I was watching Ebert & Roeper do their best movies of the year. Of course, Sideways being on each of their top 10, but when they were talking about Sideways, they said that THC was best known for being on a sitcom called Wings. So to see him be nominated and win awards, especially since THC came from a sitcom that was never recognized by any awards 'group', I think that's pretty awesome. So he didn't win his Golden Globe. There's still the Oscars. I can't see why he wouldn't be nominated.

BTW, Ange, a belated Happy Birthday!!! I just saw your post late tonight.

Well, my mother and I came to an agreement that it was better that Thomas Haden Church DIDN'T win the Golden Globe because he won't have the tabloids on him like some sudden celebrities do after winning the Globes/Oscars.
I kind of hope that he acts and directs movies for a while and then fades off into a nice retirement to work on his ranch after a few years. As good as he is at acting, he seems to like working on his ranch more (That's almost all he talks about when he's on talk shows) and he always seems to be happy that he lives in Texas full-time.
It would be funny to see Thomas go the Paul Newman route and suddenly we see some food product approved by him at grocery stores (Hey, ranching DOES have to do with food!).
