Only way to get is released on DVD is to keep letting the companies that won the rights of putting tv shows on DVD that we want it, the more people that voice their opinions the better. Also got to keep bugging the company that owns the rights to Wonder Years.

The more people they know that wants it on DVD the better chance it has at making DVD.

So if you come across any DVD sites and Year Years is not on the list put it on and get as many people as you can to help you, I will do the same.

Keep in mind though that we want a full/prestine release of the show. Not a butchered version like the Quantum Leap season 2 that recently came out. We (or at least a lot of us) want the original music intact, or no release at all. I would pay extra to have it with original music. In the drive to get this released, let's not lose sight of that.

Yes, actually. As a huge QL fan, I can only imagine what people think of their favourite shows having the music cut out as well... I heard that the same problem happened with "Northern Exposure" and will be a huge problem with "Miami Vice".

The problem is that the home video companies and the music industry are greedy. There's such a thing as making profit, sure, but how much can it really cost to put these DVD sets together? What's even worse is when there are mistakes on the sets...

Please, TPTB, give us some quality, originally-aired TV shows!

... Mike. ^_^

It wasn't a problem with Miami Vice... the music of Miami Vice is what made Miami Vice Miami Vice.

And Happy Days succeeded past the music license filter... I don't see why TWY can't. But then again, some people want to much money.

Actually, while the Miami Vice season 1 set made it out "AOA" (as originally aired), they powers that be will not promise that season 2 or subsequent seasons will make it out uncut (Interview posted on the QL IMDB.com boards). Same thing happened with QL. Season one was AOA, but season 2 was not. I won't start this collection because of that. WHy start something you can't/won't finish?

The music is absolutely crucial in this (WY) series. I would pay up to $60 for a season. As for those music companies holding out, I think it is a shame. You don't buy the DVDs to listen to the music... it is actually more like advertising for the song. I know that sounds wierd considering my position, but it isn't just the music I mind cutting, it is everything. DVD series have to be AOA... always and without question. Yes that means that the season 1 WY DVD set, if it ever comes out, must contain both the original pilot episode (as an extra) and the re-aired version with Daniel Stern as narrator. Just IMHO...

Sadly if the WY is ever released on DVD, it will probably be with replacment music. I don't know the company that owns the rights, but if they're not willing to shell out the big bucks and/or they can't get the rights to use those songs on the DVD's.

Music rights is what has help up Malcolm in the Middle Season 2 from being released. The same thing for WKRP in Cincinnati, it would be affected the same way with Music Rights.

I would fight tooth and nail against that. Why settle for something inferior?

If it is going to be cut... don't release it at all. Why? Well, if it does come out in a cut form just to "get it out", it really cuts down on the probability of it ever being released AOA. I would rather wait the 5-10 years and pay the premium to get it right. I don't want to pay a cheaper price just to get it on DVD to say that I have it. I can't stress how important it is to get it right, and not just for one season. The entire series needs to be secured before any thought is even put into a season 1 set. Maybe others do not share my opinion... and I understand why others would disagree. But I just feel that by buying DVDs in a cut form, we are sending a message to these studios that we will accept laziness and price cutting. Effort and time needs to be put into these things before being sold. I mean, these studios make millions by simply releasing something that has long been completed. Making excuses about the music simply doesn't cut it for me.
