PRINCE CHARLES TEACHING HARRY A LESSON?
January 14, 2005 Does PRINCE CHARLES want PRINCE HARRY to visit a concentration camp in Poland, after the controversy his youngest son recently created by wearing a Nazi costume to a party? According to The Sun newspaper, Prince Charles wants the 20-year-old to take the trip in order to learn more about the history of the Holocaust. Some members of the Jewish community invited the young royal family member to visit the Auschwitz site after a photo of him wearing the Nazi outfit made the cover of The Sun on Wednesday. The picture showed Harry smoking and drinking at a party last weekend while wearing the controversial get-up, complete with a red-and-black swastika armband. "It was a poor choice of costume and I apologize," said the prince in a statement Thursday, after the incident was publicly criticized by numerous political and religious groups. He added that he was sorry if he caused "any offense or embarrassment to anyone." In a video clip shown Thursday night on CNN's "LARRY KING Live", SARAH FERGUSON said her nephew "deserves a break." She added that "he's apologized, so I believe a lot of Jewish organizations in Britain accepted his apology." |

He made a mistake, he's gotta pay(royal or not). If Diana was still alive she would've taken him to Auschwitz herself.

He made a mistake and he apologized. He is young, so he gets a pass. What I don't understand is that I thought their every move was monitored. Who ordered the costume and did his bodyguards notice?

I agree that he just made a mistake. But he also could learn a lot about jewish history from his trip to Auschwitz. |

I think people should come down hard on him. First he represents the royal family, and he has had an education that should have taught him that during WWII, England was severely attacked by Germany, and not only were Jewish people murdered, but many English people were murdered by Hitler's nightly raids on London citizens and its military.
In my opinion, Harry's thought was that Nazism was some kind of joke. I have been to a Holocust museum, and in that museum were actual death ovens, and as I walked into that room, a great fear griped me, and I just felt as if I were in the place of those who had gone through those rooms to the ovens, and I was paralyzed and could not move. It is one of the things that will stay with me forever. I live in an area that has survivors of those camps, and I used to see the numbers etched on there skin, people who did nothing but, just happened to be Jewish, and a madman decided that they needed to be eliminated. I know alot of you don't like my opinions here, but I really think it is a sad statement to just say he is just young or being a kid, and to let this go by as a boy will be boy incident, he's no kid and he should know better. Tell that to those who lost whole families during the nightmare of the Nazi Regime, tell them that Hitler was only joking, and that the symbols mean nothing. I think you all need to read The Diary of Anne Frank. |

He goofed, he apologized. No need to accuse him and people here of being unsympathetic to Holocaust victims. I've written posts here which I can't pull up because they're political. I've gone ballistic over a few members who said that we make too much about the Holocaust. I've read The Diary of Anne Frank. I've seen every Holocaust movie made. I'm passionate about the Holocaust. Don't tell me I need to educate myself about it. |

Sorry I don't believe he just goofed, obviously he must have ordered the costume himself and thought of it as some kind of joke. He really is old enough to know better, he's not some 8 year old kid, he's 20 years old. I'm glad he apologized that was good of him
![]() Good for Prince Charles though, glad he's teaching him this lesson. |

Janice, I did not imply that anyone was a Nazi. I just stated that this person who is supposed to represent his country, is either an idiot or just doesn't care about a tragic past, this incident cause the world. Like I said I was stating my own experiences and opinions, and not once did that opinion say anything about anyone being a Nazi. In my opinion I think a lot of young people are so far removed from a lot of tragic history in this world, that they tend to shrug things off as just goofing around and no big deal. Again I have read my comments again, and I didn't call anyone a Nazi.

IMO they both seem a bit out of control as it is. Yeah they're young, but doing something like this is just not using their common sense. Seems to me they tend to get away with alot more than they should. Yeah they're young, but that's really no excuse.I wonder if William dared Harry to wear the costume? |
