Alan had plans to turn Rob's book about his life into a weekly situation comedy, with himself as Rob. Would Rob have stayed on as head writer (it seems logical, but in the reunion show last year Rob said he hadn't worked for Alan for forty years. Did the show take a nose dive after just a few episodes? If it didn't and was a hit, did Rob and Alan have any run ins with the way Rob should have been played?)

I'll try and do that, Steve! My hubby and I are leaving Sunday on a Caribbean cruise, so seafood will definitely be an option! Lolac

!Just kidding. I'm happy for you both. If you run into any of my Jamaican relatives, say "Hi" from me! And thanks for the warning so I don't have to revive the "Where's Lolac?" thread! Steve |

Wow, have great fun! Do lots of snorkling and diving! And most importantly, Lolac...bring pictures back from Twilo!
I'll say that the Alan Brady show lasted another seven years, giving it a run of twelve. By that time the year would be 1974 and the taste in sitcoms was changing. All In The Family type shows were becoming the rage, and Alan was becoming as relevant as Milton Berle (much to his horror). By the time Rob's book was to become a sitcom, no one was interested any longer. So what happened to Alan? I suspect he started doing movies (ala It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World...or The Russians Are Coming) and was 'rediscovered' by the youth of the time, just as Rodney Dangerfield was. He might also have hosted a talk show. Which begs the question...what was Rob's next writing assignment? Did Laura start dancing again as the seventies and eighties put women outside the home more? |
