Default 24 Season 4 discussion thread

Does anyone else here besides me watch this show? Actually, I didn't watch the premiere of season 4 just yet, I recorded it and will record tonight's episodes. Plan on watching all four hours by the time next week's episode airs and then stick with it until the end. This will be the first time watching it on tv, I got into the show from renting the season 1 dvd set, loved it and now I own the first three season sets.

It'll be weird not seeing all the old familiar cast members, but I expect the show will be just as good. I know that the actors who play the mother(Shohreh Aghdashloo) and son of the Araz family were also mother and son in the movie "House of Sand and Fog." Jonathan Ahdout, with his hair looks alot different on the show than he looked in that movie.

Default I do...

OMG! The mother in that family is evil!! Poor kid!

I'm liking Chloe more this season. She's still hyper, but she's Jack's only supporter, and she's showing lots of loyalty. Yay! Too bad it's back-firing on her at the moment.

Driscoll, the new CTU district boss is incompetent! Ugh! And none too quick to be quite legitimate in her actions, either. I wonder what drives her, beyond her daughter's predicament. Hmm......

And Driscoll's suck-up female cohort! Double-ugh! I like her even less than I do Driscoll.

Then there's Aisha Tyler's character... shady and devious, that one.

Heh!

All in all, I hate most of 'em. This is a good thing, of course.

Yes, it's tough to be missing all of those other characters that we all know and love (or hate). But... we've got William Devane! I love William Devane!

Looks like it's gonna be another roller-coaster ride this season!

Access Hollywood reports that Dennis Haysbert will appear in the final 6 episodes of this season (4).

I finally got all caught up with 24. Here's my thoughts so far.

1. I really don't see the big deal about the Muslim controversy. In my opinion, I don't believe they are making it so that ALL Muslims are terrorists. That would be like saying black people listen to rap. It may seem like it, since all the Muslims in the show are terrorists. I think it's been blown way out of proportion, though. If there is a message on this show that implies that, based on the actions of the characters, that all Muslims are terrorists, as these groups claim, I fail to see it. I think it's Muslim TERRORISTS that are being portrayed in a bad light, not all Muslims. At least Fox is going to address it by airing two public service announcements. It's better than standing their and combating these claims.

2. 24 sure has some characters you just really hate. That woman played by Aisha Tyler is one of them. She is ruthless and whatever she wants, she gets by manipulation and blackmail. I hope it comes back to get her. I have a feeling she is in on this but it is just speculation on my part. I hate the parents, too. I just can't wait to see what will happen when that mother finds out her daughter is dead. I'm pretty sure it will come back to haunt them later in the season. Erin Driscoll is another character that I loathe. She is totally incompetent and seems like she doesn't want anything to go anybody's way but hers. At least she finally sees the light in Jack, although she had to get rid of a key character in Chloe. The first few episodes I found her unlikeable but the last episode I didn't hate her as much.

3. This season I think is off to a good start. At first I thought it couldn't top last season but then I remembered that the first half of season 3 was not very good. I mean, it started out good then hit a rut towards the middle and it wasn't until January or February when it started to get in gear. I hope the same thing doesn't happen this year.

I think this season is going great so far. The action sequences are all really great. I didn't see last episode, but I saw the one before it (11am-12pm) where Jack is trying to save Heller and Chloe gets fired. I'm going to watch the last episode right before the new one tonight! I'm so excited to see what happends to Chloe. I really used to dislike her, but in the last few episodes she has really redeemed herself. What I can't believe is how bitchy Aisha Tyler is acting, I totally agree with Brian. "She is ruthless and whatever she wants, she gets by manipulation and blackmail. I hope it comes back to get her." I hope my man Kief can keep it up!

Well, a year later it turns out I didn't watch season 4 on tv after all. I just now finished watching the entire season 4 dvd set this past week in anticipation of the new season. I wanted to watch season 4 before I got into season 5, so again I recorded Sunday's and Monday's episodes to watch once I finished the dvd, and this time I really do plan on watching the season on tv every week. Anyway, season 4 was great. The show gets better year after year. A question I have for those who remember season 4 well. Unless I wasn't paying attention, we never find out what happened to Behrooz. If I remember correctly, the last we saw of him was when Marwan's men found the tracking devices on him. It was never made clear that they killed him. Am I right about this? If I am, I bet we'll see him again in the future.

I was thinking the same thinking the same thing about Aisha Tyler's character. When we first started to see her real attitude, I thought "this is Sherry Palmer #2."

Concerning Driscoll's character, I wondered if they designed it all along to get rid of that character midway through the season, realizing that they came up with some lame storyline with the mentally disturbed daughter. Plus Driscoll was so dry and boring, there was nothing of interest about that character. It was good she didn't last the whole season.

But for incompetent, how about Vice President Logan? Could you imagine someone so clueless running the country???
