Default Thomas Haden Church Newbies...

They seem to have sprung up overnight at IMDB's Thomas Haden Church board.
They say that they've been fans forever when the truth is that they haven't been talking about him forever. He has suddenly come to the forefront of their conciousness.
They're telling me where I stand as a Thomas Haden Church fan and they just think I'm there to promote my site.
They don't even know of a time where you picked up a magazine and didn't see Thomas' name in print or a huge picture of him.

Charles Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist, LOVED "Sideways." He sings its praises at every opportunity. But he never mentions THC, just Virginia Madsen.

When they aren't cooing over Thomas' sudden comeback and "He's really great now! I was a big Wings fan back in the day...", they coo over how Virginia finally gets a "Respectable" role.

I'm sorry, I know that there is going to be mass Thomas Haden Church Fangirls as his celebrity grows bigger, but I find it really irritating right now that they tell me I'm a horrible and alienating Thomas fan when they didn't go through the hazing I went through to become a THC fan.
I remember getting my ass kicked over at alt.tv.wings MANY times just for being a THC fan. If only these newbies could figure out how to access Usenet discussions and get their asses kicked, too. I'm kind of hard on the new fans because the older Wings fans were hard on me.

I guess I'm going to have to find a clique of solid, devoted Thomas Haden Chruch fans who are actually into filmmaking and behind-the-scenes who want to talk about aspects of his career instead of saying "He should thank teh stars for Sideways!" and "hellooo... he acts like a jerk in movies because he's an actor!". I also need to find people who are really big fans of his characters as well as himself. I'd like to talk to fans that would wonder how THC's career would have been if... say... the pilot To Protect and Surf became a series.

(BTW, The newbies also do the whole "OMG THC is soooo sexy!!!" thing like the Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp fans do. That irritates me, too.)

I don't get Orlando Bloom. I never have, and I never will.

Neither do I.
I guess I'm becoming out of touch with Thomas Haden Church as a fan.
Don't be suprised if I turn up less as the months go along. I just can't stand this stupid compitition that THC fans seem to force on me. I used to be able to enjoy Thomas but now that he's becoming mainstream, I may as well forget him.
I don't want to become a sheep.
