With Fresh Prince and Full House set to come out in early Feb., Family Matters is now really the only hit family sitcom of it's time that hasn't been released on DVD yet.

So what's the hold up?

I am very surprised a DVD did not come out yet considering how popular Urkel was in the 90's.

I want this show to come out on DVD too. The best resource for DVD release dates is TV Shows on DVD. On this site, you can leave a message for the studio who has the rights to Family Matters and try to persuade them for the show to be released on home video and DVD. TV shows are taking off fast on home release nowadays so hopefully this one will be on the shelves soon. Hope this helps a little bit.

I would agree. I'm sure we will see Family Matters on DVD very soon (probably before 2005 is complete), but I'm still suprised it is taking this long.

So am I. Reruns have been running for at least three years on ABC Family and they're even playing reruns on a second network where I live. But I read somewhere else in this forum that in honor of Warner Bros. 50th Anniversary that Family Matters as well as other WB sitcoms will be released sometime this year. We still need an update on that but I hope the information is accurate.

Same thing with WPIX (channel 11) for those of you are not living in the NYC area that is now being shown on weekends back a few years ago which it was on weekdays. The DVD will be out soon as they announced it, probably they will.

Well, I guess most people at SO already know that the pilot episode of the series has been released on the bonus disc in the Fresh Prince Season 1 set. I'm pretty sure that Warner Bros. will start releasing season sets of Family Matters sometime soon, even though they're trying to tease us by saying they won't.

And the sooner we get a season set, the better. But if WB doesn't release sets at all...that's just jackked up.

It was pretty much a hit in its original run, so I wouldn't understand why Warner Bros. wouldn't want to release season sets.
