I found out last summer I am in the early stages of cataracts, and just last month I went back to the eye doctor, and she said my cataracts has gotten a little worse, and that I may need surgery. Has anyone ever had cataract surgery? Was it painful? How was your recovery process? Did the surgery improve your vision?
I've read about cataract surgery on the internet, and it looks like a quick procedure with not a lot of pain, but I'm a little nervous. |

My dad does them all the time, however I'm not aware enough about it to give you any details.
However it is supposed to improve your vision. If your doctor recommends it you should go through with it. |

Wow... it's rare to need cataract surgery before age 60.
I know two Cadillac friends who had them done. One is 66 years old and the other is 73. It seemed to work fine for them. One of them said he noticed a big difference. His vision was no longer "cloudy" and "blurry." They said the surgery is not painful. And it's quick, too. No longer than 20 or 25 minutes. The recovery time is quick- a day or two. But be sure you really need the surgery. If your vision is not affected, it should be okay to wait until your vision is affected. A lot of people have cataracts in which their vision is still okay. |

I don't have health insurance right now, but I'm trying to get it. My eye doctor recommended the surgery based on some problems I've been having with my eyes and also when she checked them she noticed the cataracts had increased a little.
