Super Teri's TV Comeback

When sexy Teri Hatcher decided to quit the limelight seven years ago, her army of male admirers were sent in to deep shock.

They had grown attached to the raven-haired beauty in her roving role as reporter Lois Lane in the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman.

But Teri decided enough was enough - and dumped stardom for full-time motherhood after the birth of daughter Emerson Rose.

100% Mother

So committed to her new arrival was Teri, she even rejected out of hand any suggestion of bringing in a nanny to help, unlike most Hollywood mums.

Gone forever... well, not quite. Now she's back in the new racy chick drama Desperate Housewives which is set to fill the void left by Sex And The City.

And it looks likely to turn stunning Teri into the new Sarah Jessica Parker.

Teri, now 40, plays single mum and divorcee Susan Mayer, who has a teenage daughter and will go to any lengths to grab a fella.

She gushed: "The part of Susan appears tailor-made for me. It seems like I just stepped into her skin.

"Emerson is in the first grade of her school so it seemed to me that this was the most appropriate time to get a job.

"It may not seem like much of an artistic choice to some people but I would not trade one minute of the time I spent with Emerson and have her raised by a nanny."

Superman's Super-babe!

It's all such a far cry from those days as one of the sexiest women on the globe during the height of Superman's success.

A picture of her naked with only the Man Of Steel's cape to preserve her modesty was the most downloaded snap on the internet the year it was released.

Her star was rising when she appeared as temptress Paris Carver in Bond movie Tomorrow Never Dies. Then she quit the scene.

But anyone who knows Teri will tell you she never ceases to amaze. In her youth she was a professional cheerleader for the San Francisco 49ers - all this while studying Engineering and Maths.

Her beauty and brains combo has always made her more streetwise than most.

Hidden Talents

As she said during her Superman days: "Despite the fact that I have a good-size pair of breasts, in Lois & Clark, I have the opportunity to show the world they're not my only attribute."

But since that Bond role, her main job has been as a mum. Now she is relishing her role as Mayer. And like Mayer, she has had her own marital problems too.

Teri's first marriage, to actor Marcus Leithold in 1988, ended after just ten months. She was subsequently linked with various men, including Superman co-star Dean Cain.

But she eventually married American actor John Tenney in 1994 - father to Emerson - before they split in March 2003.

Teri says she is happy to be a singleton - and vows she won't be rushing to tie the knot for a third time.

"If you pinned me down to a yes or no, I would probably say no. It's so far from what I can imagine right now. My priorities are my daughter, family, friends and work."
