Default "The Return of Todd Episode" Talkback

Might as well do it now... don't know if I'll have time to do it tomorrow night.

Quote:
DATE WITH DISASTER--Nate (Josh Cooke) is convinced that Marni's (Jennifer Finnigan) friend Todd (guest star RonReaco Lee) hates him and uses his wheelchair disability to his advantage to garner sympathy from Marni. To make amends, Nate takes his shoes to Todd's shop to have them repaired and invites him to hang out sometime. Todd suggests Saturday but Nate has a basketball game and feels uncomfortable playing with Todd because of his disability. Elsewhere, Tess (Tammy Lynn Michaels) sets out to prove that the mailman is not the nice person Marni believes him to be. To prove her case, Tess plants a video camera above the mail slots to record his actions. Clown (Tom Poston) and his friend from Clown College exchange pies-in-the face via the postal service. Darius McCrary also stars.

Solid episode. Loved seeing Todd again, and I'm glad they spent more time on Tess. Not feeling the clown though. Not because it's weird, but it seems pointless, like an excuse to have Krameresque behavior going on in the background.

Oh well. I'll be watching again on Tuesday.

Wow! This episode was really really funny. Awesome episode! Clown getting the pie in the mail and then putting it on his face. I was laughing so hard tears were forming. His friend at the end (Bob Newhart) got the pie and put it on the wall very funny. What did he say? Miss the roomate? I taped it so I will use the captions on it. Anyway I hope it's a reacurring thing between them.

The guy in the wheelchair can't remember his name at the moment but he was very funny. They got to give him a contract. I guess he doesn't like Nate.. Marni just can't believe that people can be bad like the mailman. Why did Nate have a key in his sneaker?

Awesome episode!! Loved it!! Can't wait for next week!

I hope we see more of the Todd character too. I liked him in the premiere and even more in this episode. He's pretty funny. The clown does seem pointless, though it was nice seeing Bob Newhart at the end. Marni will have to grow on me. Not sure if it's just the voice or something else but...she'll have to grow on me.

I'm sorry, I've seen both episodes of this new show, and I think it's horrible.
It's not funny, and the characters are annoying.
The pumped up laugh track isn't helping either.
The only thing close to clever was the "pie fight though the mail" gag between the clown and his old roommate (the Bob Newhart cameo was clever too).

Sorry NBC try again.

To each his own. I think it's got enough potential to warrant watching again, but it's not "Must-See" quality yet.

I do have to agree about the horrid laugh track. Was this show filmed with a live audience? 'Cause it's sure hard to tell.

I actually like the clown. I do not like Todd. Rather than being a three-dimensional character (as three-dimensional as you can get in a sitcom this early on) he seems to be simply a plot device. Now, there are tons of shows with plot devices and maybe Todd will become a full-fledged character.

The episode was pretty good, though, and there were a nice amount of laughs.

Todd isn't a regular, so I wasn't bothered by him being more a plot device than an actual character. I hope this is the last we see of him for awhile, though. I thought he was hilarious, but a character like his should be used sparingly, like Janice on Friends.

Last nights episode was so funny!!! the part where Todd and Nate are fighting in the elevator had me in tears!
But I have to say, this show is alot different than alotta NBC sitcoms that have come out...I was suprised when I heard Nate call Todd a "Mother******* ***hole!" thats not something you usually hear on a sitcom.
I hope Committed gets picked up for a second season, cause I'm lovin' it!

I have a feeling this will be picked up for a full season next year. Don't know why, but I do.

Looks like Todd will be back in the January 18th episode.

I kind of wish they wouldn't use him so much. As hilarious as he is, he's the kind of character where a little goes a long way.

Ronreaco Lee has been the most striking character in this show to me so far. His character is different to me than any other I have seen on a show and his behavior makes sense: he'd rather be dating Marnie and Marnie seems too dim to realize this. I don't know if it's a good or bad thing that he's in it so much, I guess it would take more time to tell. He's made much more of an impression than Tom Poston who seems out of place here like he's a plant to get older viewers to watch.
