What is your favorite Bruce album? Mine is Born In the U.S.A. Every song on this album has special meaning for me and I listen to it at least once a week.

Actually, the only album of his that I own is Born in the U.S.A. I really like it a lot. I haven't listened to it in a while, but now I think I will. I am interested in getting some of his others. Are there any other specific ones that you would recommend?

That's an interesting question. I think that the must have Springsteen albums are Darkness on the Edge of Town (1977), Born in the USA (1984) and Tunnel of Love (1987). Many would also consider Born to Run (1975) a must have, but I've never been a fan of that album with the exception of the title track and "Thunder Road". He also has a 1995 Greatest Hits album that has many of his best songs on it. There is also The Essential Bruce Springsteen that was released last year, but I think that Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits is a better collection.

I dunno why I've never been partial to Springsteen, or Bob Seger for that matter, yet I love both Tom Petty and John Mellencamp, go figure.

Are you kidding?? Bruce Springsteen is one of the greatest performers in rock and roll. He's real and honest. Born to Run is one of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time. Bruce Springsteen's music is cool. I like his songs: "Born In The USA" and the song he sang for the album A Very Special Christmas 1: "Merry Christmas, Baby".

well, even though I don't think he was in blockbuster territory until BITU.S.A., I would say he was already a superstar well before that album. The River went to #1, and even an album as uncommercial as Nebraska went all the way to #3 on the chart. I think U.S.A. put him in another league that very few were in, but he was definately a huge name before then. It's like how MJ was big before Thriller, but Thriller put him over the top.

What's ironic is that Bruce was never comfortable with how big Born In The U.S.A. made him. I certainly understand why he felt this way. Though Born In The U.S.A. is my favorite Springsteen album, there were a lot of people back in the mid-1980's and even now that think that the songs from this album are the be all and end all of what Bruce is about. Bruce once said that during his 1984-1985 tour that many of the people in the audinace were there only because of Born In The U.S.A. and those people would get up and go to the bathroom if he played a track from Nabraska.

I am a Bruce fan, although some friends of mine are more hardcore than I am.

If I had to pick, I would go with Born In The USA, although he has many albums that are incredible.

even tho I am not much of a Springsteen fan, even I don't think the Born In The U.S.A. cuts are his best, I don't even own that, the only albums I have of his are Darkness On The Edge Of Town and The River. I respect him and agree he has tons of talent, he just isn't really my thing, which is funny because I love Petty and Mellencamp.
