and have no hope of rescue for a while, but *somehow* you have enough food and water and shelter, and have a working TV and DVD player.

The question is: what 10 TV series on DVD would you want to have with you? And to keep it interesting, it doesn't matter if the series is actually available on DVD, and sequels/spinoffs count as part of the original series for a single choice (i.e. - "Star Trek" would include Star Trek, Next Generation, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise).

Please include a brief reason (one or two sentences) about why you would pick a particular show.

My ten:

1. Star Trek - hundreds of eps (600+), including 22 or so from the animated series; also, I am a huge fan of ST, and think that even mediocre Trek (Enterprise, anyone?) is better than most TV.

2. Law and Order - I am not a huge fan of Criminal Intent, but the original series is solid, and SVU has really developed well. Also, it has *hundreds* of eps.

3. Saturday Night Live - Close to 30 years of laughs and music; close to 600 eps to keep the DVD player going.

4. The Simpsons - The best animated series ever, and arguably the best sitcom ever. Still going strong in its 15th? 16th? season. (Yup, this lots of episodes thing is definitely a pattern to most of my choices

)

5. 60 Minutes - How many years? How many eps? The only thing I would like to edit out is Andy Rooney.

6. Married with Children - When the writers were *on*, hands down the funniest show on TV, for many years.

7. Gunsmoke - oodles of eps.

8. The Tonight Show - from Paar to Carson to Leno (with a few guest hosts sprinkled in), this show has to be included. Hell, the Carson years alone make it an easy choice.

9. M*A*S*H - a possibility for the best series ever, though not the best sitcom - it wasn't funny enough after Trapper, Frank Burns and Henry Blake were gone. Still a good show though.

10. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (includes Angel) - for years the most intelligently written and acted series on TV; the first 3 seasons of BtVS make it one of the top 5 shows ever, imo.

Bubbling just outside of the top 10: Happy Days (almost made it because Mork and Mindy would be included. didn't make it because Laverne and Shirley would have been included too.

; Home Improvement, Friends, Cheers/Frasier, The X-Files (took itself way to seriously after a while) and Cops. Also note the absence of soaps, daytime or primetime. Never liked them, so I wouldn't want to be stuck with them on the island.

What are your choices??

1. Family Feud: but only with Richard Dawson. I'm not wasting my time watching hosts I don't like or in one case, can't stand to even look at. And over 2000 eps should be good.

2. Match Game 73-78. Lots of eps and funny as hell. Nothing after Richard Dawson left, cuz they were boring as hell then...unless Jack Klugman was there. Those eps are included. He was nuts.

3. Adam-12. I love this show. It makes me happy.

4. Route 66. Love it too. And it's the high drama to balance the insane comedy. Like a chocolate covered pretzel.

5. Incredible Hulk. I'd be lonely. David was lonely. We'd make a great pair.

6. Hogan's Heroes. Dawson fix. That's enough of a reason.

7. Powerpuff Girls. Mojo!

8. Futurama. Bender rules the universe.

9. Wings. Funny as hell. And if for nothing else, I could stare at Tim Daly.

10. Lois and Clark. I dunno why, just cuz.

It's longer than some of the others I'm thinking of. Only 4 seasons though.

Damn ABC.

three's company - the funniest show ever. the first four seasons rocked and last six sucked however. still --- a good show to watch. forget the spin-offs, they're a waste of time and nothing compared to the original. two's company was horrid!

the price is right - the greatest one hour game show ever. i could watch this all day.

the young and the restless - great entertainment, interesting stories, and BUTTLOAD of episodes.

fear factor - the game show that makes you fearless! lol, j/k.

survivor - fits the standed island theme just perfect as well as ....

gilligan's island

hot springs hotel - gotta gets those love urges going!

i dream of jeannie - if i was standed on island for real, i would definitely want this entertainment ... a sex symbol girl playing slave and loving it!

All In The Family and the spin-offs - this would be my politics outlet.

and last but not least ....

GIRLS BEHAVING BADLY - any lesbian or alpha-male is her/his right mind would want this, especially being stranded on an island with no vo-deo-do-do.

1. Late Night with David Letterman (1982-1993)

I've seen a few episodes of his NBC show and I love it. It'd be great to have 11 years worth of episodes.

2. The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (1962-1992)

Another classic late night talk show. 29 years of episodes (except for those that have been lost or destroyed) would keep me busy for a long time.

3. Mission: Impossible (1966-1973)

Reason: finding episodes of this show has proved to be an impossible mission.

4. Saturday Night Live

I'd like to have every episode unedited from 1975 to 2002. Lots of classic episodes.

5. The Late Show with David Letterman (1993 to present)

Again, I am a big fan of Letterman. This and his NBC show would make it over 4,000 episodes.

6. The Ed Sullivan Show (1948-1971)

Another classic show. I'd probably spend more time watching the 60s and early 70s episodes than the earlier ones.

7. Star Trek

8. Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955-65)

360 episodes (including The Alfred Hitchcock Hour)

9. My Three Sons

10. Happy Days
