Since they aren't showing it can somebody explain what happens in both "The Proposal" and "Chambers Vs. Malone."

Ya know, it's been about five years since I saw those and was looking forward to them so much. But I'll still give it a try:

It's revealed that Diane is the one on the other end of the phone. Don't remember if she said yes there, but the next day, either she or Sam wants the proposal in a more romantic place. So he takes her out on a small boat and asks her...she says no. He tries again. She says no. He says she can either be thrown into the water or jump. She jumps. He pulls her back in, but takes off in his dingy. The next day he tries again, and she says no, and he chases her out of the bar. She takes a small fall and makes up a felonious lawsuit and takes him to court for pain and suffering. She shows up in neckbrace and with krutches, takes the stand and says she'll drop the charges if Sam proposes. He does halfheartedly from the defense table and she finally says yes.

Hope that assists somewhat.
