This sitcom is about two sisters in their early-mid 30s who are currently dating two brothers in their late 40s and early 50s. Tim Allen plays Mark Chappel (49), a marketing executive, who is dating Krystle Logan (33), a bank teller. Krystle is played by Traylor Howard. Mark's brother, Jack is played by Tony Danza. Jack Chappel (51), a head chef at his own Italian restuarant, is dating Kendra Logan (35), a currently laid off school teacher. Kendra is played by Tea Leoni. Mark and Krystle live in a studio apartment in Manhatten-which is 10 blocks from Jack and Kendra's studio apartment. Kendra and Krystal's parents are divorced parents: Keith and Liz (Ed O'Neil, Suzanne Somers) disapprove of their daughters dating much older (16 years older) men. Mark and Jack's older, widowed (at a young age) sister, Nancy (Sally Struthers) lives in Boston with her son, Nathan (Seth Green) and his girlfriend, Allison (Alyson Hannigan). Nancy visits her brothers and girlfriends often. Mark, Jack, and Nancy's elderly, (twice) widowed mother, Susan (Betty White) lives in Boston in a home (nearby Nancy's place).

Ep3: Helping Big Sister:

Ep4: Return Of Nance:
Nancy returns with great news: Nathan and Allison are getting married. Nancy is overjoyed, as is the two couples. Mark and Jack decide to have a talk with Nathan (since his dad died when Nancy was pregnant with him).

Ep5: Kendra Searches:
Kendra goes to the Job Center in hope of finding a job, yet learns it is just more depressing. Kendra turns to Jack for support after feeling like a unemployed reject, after being rejected during her first interview (since she got laid off). Krystle and Nancy bond together by going shopping all day long.

Ep6: The Bragging Ex:
Krystle learns Mark's ex-wife is in town and wants to have dinner with Mark and her. Krystle is weirdly excited to meet Diane (Christine Baranski). Diane tells Mark and Krystle that she is newly engaged to Dennis (James Brolin)-a rich distant relative of the Rockefeller family. Diane keeps on bragging, Mark becomes jealous. Krystle makes up a bunch of lies about how her and Mark's life are much better than her and Dennis's.

Ep7: Mommy, Dearest:
Mark, Jack, Kendra, and Krystle go to Boston to celebrate the Chappel's mom, Susan's 80th birthday with Nancy, Nathan, and Allison. Krystal, Allison, and Nathan get some personal advice from a very wise Susan. Mark and Jack discover that Nancy is been lately looking for a mate over the internet. The brothers at first make jokes about it, then soon realizes how desperate for man she is, they share a private heart-felt chat.

Ep8: Look No Further:
Kendra finally finds and gets a job - as a receptionist at beauty salon. Kendra learns her last job (6th grade teacher) is a lot different than her new job (receptionist). Meanwhile, the gang learns that Nancy has gaven her home to Nathan and Allison, as she decides to move to Manhatten to live in the big city by her brothers and their "lovely" girlfriends.
(Sally Struthers becomes part of regular cast member, as Green and Hannigan become reoccuring cast members)

Ep9: Wedding Bells (and More): Part One:
The whole gang attends Nathan and Allison's wedding. Nancy is sobbing (in joy) at the ceremony. Kendra newly-found confidence (from her job) makes her become a "dancing queen" at the reception. After claiming to be bad dancers, the girls give up on Jack and Mark. Kendra, Krystle, and Nancy have a blast "booging" on the dance floor.

Ep10: Wedding Bells (and More): Part Two:
At the reception, Jack get hit on by Allison's single and drunk Aunt Gwen (Morgna Fairchild). Kendra notices Gwen's flirting with Jack, and she is not happy. Kendra and Gwen get into a little arguement (which into a big brawlling cat-fight on the dance floor). Jack confesses he loves Kendra and would never do anything to jeopardize that. Jack pops the question to Kendra, who perks up instantly and says yes immediately.

Ep11: Man-Hatten:
Without Mark knowing, Krystle pretends to be "single" and goes with Nancy to a few clubs and singles bar to meet guys. Krystle gets more attention, then she announces that shes a lesbian (only to have them leave her alone). Yet a "butch" woman tries to hit on Krystle. Nancy doesn't meet any "great" guys but is had a blast. Krystle is still grossed out by the woman hitting on her. Nancy just thinks its hilarious.

Ep12: Engagement Party:
It's Jack and Kendra's engagement party. Krystle is asked to be the maid of honor, as Mark is asked to be best man. Kendra and Jack ask Nancy to help them plan the wedding (since she use to be a wedding planner in the past). Liz and Keith are present and surprisingly accept the wedding proposal. Keith is sentimental about having to walk his beloved oldest daughter down the aisle. Liz and Nancy get to talking at the party and instantly become best of friends, after realizing they were classmates during high school (just acquaintances, not friends).

Ep13: Pregnant or No?:
Krystle fears she is pregnant after feeling horrible, yet she goes to the doctor and finds out she has a bad case of food poisining. Krystle remembers the last thing she ate was some pasta at Jack's restaurant. Jack becomes self-conscious about his cooking ever since then. Kendra and Mark decide to help out in the kitchen, after a few of his staff are home-sick due to food poisining too.

Ep14: Grandma Nancy:
Nancy joyfully tells the family that she heard from Nathan and Allison that she is about to expect her first grandchild in the next nine months. Nancy is bouncing off the walls. Kendra and Jack have their first agruement as an engaged couple about the wedding. Kendra was a modern wedding and Jack wants a traditional wedding. They decide to combine modern and traditional to get the perfect wedding for the both of them.

Ep15: Jealousy Kills The Cat:
Krystle becomes jealous of Kendra's wedding and how Kendra is getting married (and she's not). Krystle decides to "propose" to Mark, Mark feeling a little odd but says yes. Krystle and Mark share the news with the family. Kendra and Krystle get into a fight, about Krystle "stealing the spotlight" off of Kendra and Jack. Jack, Mark, and Nancy suggest to combine the weddings into one big wedding ceremony. The bitter brides stubbornly agree on the idea.
