Paul and Mark have became good friends ever since they moved in next-door to each other. Daniella and Josh both attend Winston Community College (5 miles from their homes), so they still live at their parents's homes. Daniella and Josh have been dating for the past 14 months and are real serious about each other. Katie and Andrew are juniors at Eisenhower High School (they are not romantically involved but are relatively close friends) and Miranda is a freshman at Eisenhower High School. Paul is real estate agent, Barb owns her own restuarant, Mark is an attorney, and Kim is a beautician. The Greenes and the Reynoldses are great family friends.

Ep1: Pilot Episode:
Barb, Paul, Kim, and Mark are invited to a former neighbors, Jack and Marsha's 25th anniversary party. Paul and Mark think Jack (Alan Thicke) is "too-full-of-himself", as Barb and Kim swear Marsha (Christine Baranski) has had plastic surgery yet can't pick out what she had done (during the party). Meanwhile, Katie, Andrew, and Miranda walk in on Josh and Daniella making out in Daniella's bedroom.

Ep2: School Daze:
Miranda is looking forward to beginning high school as a freshman, as Andrew and Katie dreadful start their junior year of high school. Josh and Daniella learn they have each other in three of the same classes. Mark gets a raise after working at the same firm for the past 10 years.

Ep3: The Restaurant Employees:
Barb decides to hire Daniella as hostess, Josh as cook, Miranda and Katie as waitresses, and Andrew as waiter for her restaurant, several weeks before the grand-opening of the restuarant. Meanwhile, Daniella and Josh double date with Daniella's friend, Lacey (Anneliese Van Der Pol) and her boyfriend, Chris (Billy Aaron Brown). Josh and Daniella are stunned when they learn that Lacey and Chris are getting engaged at their ages (both 19).

Ep5: (Wo)men Only Weekend:
Paul, Mark, Josh, and Andrew go to a hunting lodge for the weekend, but all four men aren't the best of hunters afterall. Meanwhile with the men gone, Kim and Barb decide to throw a girls-only party (inviting themselves, few other girlfriends, Daniella, Miranda, and Katie), the party includes fondue, chick-flicks, chocolate, gossip, and more chocolate.

Ep6: Happy Halloween:
Miranda, Andrew, and Katie decide to go trick-or-treating, but get angry when an elderly man refuses to give them candy. Meanwhile, Kim, Mark, Paul, and Barb attend a Halloween costume party. Mark and Kim go as "Mike and Carol Brady", as Paul and Barb go as "Elvis and Priscilla Presley". Daniella and Josh are stay home (and pass out candy) and watch scary movies in the dark.

Ep7: Sisterly Visit:
Barb's unmarried sister, Jody (Lisa Darr) pays a visit with news of her being a surrogate mother for her best friend and her husband, who can't have a baby of their own. Barb fears Jody has made a wrong decision and shouldn't have been a surrogate mother, causing a rift between the sisters. Meanwhile, Mark feels he is losing "the closeness" between him and Miranda lately, so he decides to take Miranda along with him to a Packers-Lions football game. Miranda and Mark bond during the game and decide to "stay close" as they were when she was younger.

Ep8: Enough Is Enough:
Kim is stricken with the flu and is realizing how much her kids depend on her to do things for them (even when she is sick). Mark steps in and orders Daniella, Andrew, and Miranda to do things for themselves and let Kim rest, and not to bother her until she is better. A couple days of being left alone, Kim enjoys the new rule yet is feeling much better. Kim schemes an idea of pretending to still be sick in order to be left alone, until Andrew witnesses Kim not acting sick and knows she is lying.

Ep9: Grand Opening:
It is Barb's restaurant, Another Helping's Grand Opening. Barb is accompanied by her fellow employees (Daniella, Josh, Andrew, Katie, Miranda, and others), Paul, Kim, and Mark. Ep10: A Thanksgiving To Remember:
The Greenes and Reynolds have their annual Thanksgiving feast at Kim and Mark's house this year (they alternate each year). During the meal, Josh pops the question to Daniella, who gladly says yes. Mark, Kim, Paul, and Barb are shocked and definitely not speechless-all four thinking they are too young to get engaged. Yet, their three siblings couldn't be more happier by their engagement. The newly-engaged couple informs their parents that they are going to get engaged and married no matter what they have to say about it, hurting their mothers deeply and angering their fathers more-so.

Barb is upset that Paul indirectly kicks him out and Josh is okay with it, until she learns Josh will be moving in with Daniella and her family until they can get their own apartment. Barb and Paul laugh at the thought of Josh and Daniella living with Kim and Mark, who are dead against letting the engaged couple live "in sin" together-especially against their wishes.

Ep12: Apartment Hunting:
Josh and Daniella look into buying an apartment, but can't afford a decent-looking apartment. After hours of talking, Daniella and Josh decide to end the engagement, yet still remain dating. Meanwhile, love is in the air as things heat up between Andrew and Katie working together as lab partners.

Ep14: Togetherness Time:
Mark and Kim decide to spend at least an hour or two a day together doing stuff (non-sex related). The couple end up on each other's nerves and learn not always being by each other's side can be a good thing. Meanwhile, Daniella and Josh go out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate their 1 year of dating, as they bump into Paul and Barb at the same restuarant-a table away.

Ep15: Broken-Hearted:

Meanwhile, Barb's 4 months pregnant sister, Jody (Lisa Darr) returns with news that the couple she was surrogate mother for, are getting a divorce. Barb was afraid something bad like this would happen, Jody informs her that the couple sadly now don't want to raise the baby after they get a divorce. Jody has made up her mind and decides to raise the baby herself but needs guidance from Barb.

Ep16: Telling Mom and Dad:
Barb decides to inform her and Jody's always-traveling parents: Gary and Carol (Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore) about Jody raising the baby on her own now. Gary sides with Jody, believing she can do this if she really wants to, and Carol sides with Barb, believing she is way over her head in this all. Jody ends up deciding to put the baby up for adoption. Barb and Jody share a sisterly heart-to-heart, leaving the two sisters on good terms with each other. Meanwhile, Miranda accidently sees Andrew and Katie kissing on the couch in the living room, causing Miranda to learn about Katie and Andrew's secret relationship with each other.
