Yep. It was called "Accidents Will Happen". It was a 2 parter. I doubt you'll ever see it on tv here in the US. The only way I saw it was that I asked a friend in Calgary to tape the shows for me while they were on hiatus here in the US, and that happened to be one of them. I didn't know at the time that they wouldn't be showing it.

It's a shame. It deals with a sensitive subject, but it did it with class and understanding. Something we could use a little more of on our tv here in the US.

I use to watch the original Degrassi Juinor High& Degrassi High School . There were two sisters who were twins (can't remember their names. One of them had an abortion also this was aired in the states I cannot recall if there were any uproar over it. This was late 80's to early 90's more likely 88 or 89 (?) I know I was still in HS.

The twins were Heather and Erica Farrell. Erica found herself pregnant after a summer fling with another counselor at summer camp. The first pregnancy test she takes comes back negative, but when she continues to miss, she takes another one, and it comes out positive, but she lies to her sister until she can figure out what she wants to do. She ends up having an abortion in the end.

The show as aired in the US on PBS, but it was edited. I own the series, but my eps came from the tapes put out by PBS, and it says during the credits "edited for broadcast in the US". If you watch later in the series, where Heather has nightmares about going with Erica, you can see brief clips that weren't shown before.

Erica suffers from a lot of backlash when others hear of what she did. Not only does Liz put nasty pictures and graffiti on her locker, but they get into a cat fight in the hall. Heather also suffers for months after with the aftermath of what she helped her sister do.

I was surprised that there was very little backlash toward Manny, but I guess that we live in a different society now. After word gets out that Manny is pregnant (via Ashley), her rep is temporarily ruined, but it was nothing like what they did to Erica in the 80's.

PBS is a more progressive channel than Noggin. PBS doesn't take any advertiser money. Noggin does, plus they market themselves as a kids channel, and I think they're afraid of the backlash from airing such a thing. However, I know a lot of people have been bombarding Noggin over the past year about it. They remain non-committal about airing the ep. They will only say "maybe someday".

They're not airing that episode on Noggin, so even if you still got it, you won't see it. Craig was the father.

The episodes are "Accidents will Happen Parts 1 & 2". The-N is NOT going to air these episodes due to the subject of abortion. I'm very mad that Manny decided to have an abortion.

::Sigh:: And this is the exact reason why The N would never show this episode.
