I hope I spelled the last name right... MSNBC just reported he died of prostate cancer. I knew he had it, but I thought he would get treated.

They were much more encouraging about this recently. I didn't know he was that sick.
From Yahoo... NEW YORK - "Law & Order" star Jerry Orbach has died of prostate cancer at 69, a representative of the show said Wednesday. Orbach died Tuesday night in Manhattan after several weeks of treatment, Audrey Davis of the public relations agency Lippin Group said. When his illness was diagnosed, he had begun production on NBC's upcoming spinoff "Law & Order: Trial By Jury," after 12 seasons playing Detective Lennie Briscoe in the original series. His return to the new show had been expected early next year. On Broadway, the Bronx-born Orbach starred in hit musicals including "Carnival," "Promises, Promises" (for which he won a Tony Award), "Chicago" and "42nd Street." Among his film appearances were roles in "Dirty Dancing," "Prince of the City" and "Crimes and Misdemeanors." |

I was just on Yahoo News checking the College game scores for my son and I saw the news, apparently it just happened not long ago. This world will not be the same without his wit and grace. Jerry will live on in his work, not only Law and Order, but the plethora of movies he was in. A great talent taken from us way too soon. Rest in Peace, Jerry

Very sad news, I first learned of his illness less than a month ago & the prognosis was for a full recovery. According to AP, Jerry will be seen in the first few episodes of Trial By Jury & from there, is anyone's guess.

VETERAN'S DAY
10pm ET 2004-12-29 WAR. WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR? -- When a highly confrontational peace activist is found strangled to death, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) investigate the homicide, discovering that in his final hours the victim was involved in several verbal disputes with police and a local armed forces veteran - Dan Silva (guest star TBD). However, when their investigation uncovers a previous confrontation between the victim and Silva, the detectives believe the homicide to be linked to the veteran's hatred over the victim's beliefs, which he felt were anti-American. Sam Waterston, Elisabeth Rohm, Fred Thompson and S.Epatha Merkerson also star. TV-14 Law and Order also airs on TNT: http://www.tnt.tv/Title/Display/0,5918,333808,00.html |

He just found out he had that just later in October or early November. Prostate like Pancreas cancer happens so early and then it seems no cure for it and die all of a sudden.
