Default Diabetes

I found out on the 22nd that I'm Diabetic. I'm really scared. I'm thankful that I don't need insulin yet. Are any of you dealing with this too?

A good freind of mine is diabetic. She takes insulin everyday but she is fine. Just make sure you take care of yourself, eat healthy, exercise daily, and LISTEN TO YOUR DOCTOR....everythings gonna be fine

I'm really sorry to hear that. Hang in there
My friend from like elementary school was diagnosed with diabetes this year, and he was diagnosed right after his grandfather died, so it was pretty bad. A couple months later, my friend's brother was diagnosed with diabetes. They are both doing fine. Just do everything MissZero said and you'll be fine. Good luck with everything

Sorry about your diagnosis. My husband has diabetes. He doesn't take insulin either. It's important to check your blood often to make sure you're in a safe range. Don't let your sugar go too low or you'll have reaction (shaking, dizziness), so eat small amounts throughout the day. If you feel a reaction coming on, eating a few crackers and orange juice takes care of it.

As Miss Zero said, take care of yourself with a good diet and exercise. Also, watch your sweet intake.

Be careful of your feet. My husband sees a podiatrist. He has neuropathy which is pain and numbing of the feet. Our insurance pays for him to have a nurse clip his toenails. It's important to always wear slippers while home. Wounds heal slower in diabetics, and if limbs get numb, they don't know if they've hurt themselves. This often leads to amputation.

No insulin. That's a good sign. It's a lousy disease but it is manageable. If you ever have questions, PM me. I know a lot about it. Good luck.

Who knew that lack of one chemical could cause so many problems.

When i was 13,i got a blood test for Diabetes after i wet the bed one night, and i had read that wetting the bed was a sign because diabetics frequently urinate because they drink heaps because they are always thirsty.I also had other symptoms like irritability, nausea, stomach pain, and loss of appetite, but i was going through a family crisis at the time, and the doctor's diagnosis was just emotional distress. It thankfully was not diabetes.

I learnt alot about diabetes though from the once popular Baby sitters club books by Ann Martin.I read them alot when i was younger, and one of the characters in the book had diabetes, and the author wrote about how the girl dealt with it.It was pretty informative.

I'm 30, and i just found out in July. I'm not overweight, I'm always active, and I don't eat much sweets. It's heredity on my father's side. Desperate_Fan03, I was scared to. I just needed pills. All I did was watch what I eat. Don't let it stop you from living. Watch out for the carbs.

Laura! You'll be okay. Just do what you're supposed to. My grandma, one of my cousins, and one of my close friends all have it.
