Good thing no-one was hurt or that might not be funny!

I wonder why he wanted money?! Probably so he could buy more drugs, don't you think?
Because if he wasn't on drugs he probably could have figured out that he could sell the cds to a pawn shop or on Ebay.

Cops: Son burned down house after not getting gifts

Bucks County Courier Times

A 21-year-old Lower Southampton man who reportedly felt burned by his parents because they didn't get him any gifts for Christmas allegedly decided to burn them back - by setting the family house on fire Sunday.

The home at 916 Manor Lane along the Neshaminy Creek was destroyed, leaving Steven Murray's parents, Eva and Joseph, homeless but uninjured. Murray, who lived with his parents, now is being housed in the county prison.

The McNamara family of Middletown is also homeless after a Christmas night fire engulfed their home, which last week won them honorable-mention honors in Middletown's annual holiday decoration contest.

The cause of the 9 p.m. fire at 1122 Brownsville Road hasn't been determined, Parkland Fire Co. Chief Scott Molle said Monday. But the split-level home was destroyed, leaving the family unhurt but at the mercy of neighbors and the Red Cross.

Arson, meanwhile, is clearly the cause of the blaze at the Murray home, according to the Bucks County fire marshal.

Steven Murray told a neighborhood friend that he became angry on Christmas Day when there weren't any presents for him, Lower Southampton police said. So his initial reaction was to break glass on some windows and destroy various objects in the home, police said.

"[Murray] told [the friend] that he had a terrible Christmas and that he was pissed off at the world, and that he did not receive anything for Christmas and was mad about this," said Officer Stephen Brookes.

Feeling out of control, police said Murray then voluntarily checked into Warminster General Hospital under the state's 302-commitment law, which allows individuals under the influence of alcohol and lacking self-control to place themselves in medical custody.

But the next morning, he signed himself out of the hospital, police said. Murray allegedly told Officer Gerald Scott that he walked the eight miles from the hospital to his home and first saw the fire in progress from a distance as he approached the cabin.

Murray's jacket smelled of smoke, however, Scott said, and police found a lighter in his pocket. Police then spotted a gas can approximately 10 feet from the front door, hidden under trash bags and trash bins.

Murray later allegedly admitted his involvement in front of several officers, saying, "I started the fire on purpose." He told Scott that the fire danced and spoke to him, saying, "Come to me; you belong with me,'' police said.

According to Officer Christian Tracy, Murray spit at and verbally threatened officers while in police custody, saying repeatedly, "I'm going to kill ... your families when I get out of here."

Murray also spit at Bristol District Justice Frank Peranteau during his arraignment Sunday evening. The justice set his bail at $1 million and had him transferred to the county prison in Doylestown on charges of arson and criminal mischief.

Peranteau was forced to hold the arraignment in the courthouse waiting area after Murray became disruptive and threatened to burn the Bible used to swear in witnesses, according to an officer of the court.

"So what if I burned my house down?" Murray asked during the proceedings. "It's my house."

Murray also allegedly attempted to set fire to his family's home two months before Christmas, his father told police, by lighting objects in the living room.

Bucks County Fire Marshal Nicholas Rafferty said arson is to blame for the blaze, after ruling out all possible electrical and accidental causes while at the scene Sunday.

A Red Cross Disaster Relief Team supplied food, groceries and clothing to Murray's parents Sunday, according to Lower Bucks County Red Cross Chapter public relations director Janhavi Chandra. She said the pair is staying with relatives, while their son awaits a preliminary hearing before Feasterville District Justice Susan McEwen.
