Thumbs down I think the show sucks!

I never like the because of the music in the beginning. And it was just boring. I always
hated it.

Cheers is a very funny show, although it got really stupid and unfunny by the 1988-1989 season.

Really, I thought it was at it's best in the later seasons.

To me, the best years were the middle seasons (1985-88), which were Shelley Long's last two years, and the first year of Kirstie Alley. After that, the producers changed (three of the writers went off to create "Wings") and I thought the writing was a lot less sharp.

Also, I hate what happened to Kirstie Alley's character. She changed from a tough business woman with a few neuroses to a complete ditz. And it didn't make a lot of sense for her character to hang around after Sam bought the bar back.

The last season or two are really tired, and the wisecracks become pretty predictable.

I use to watch this show, but it is getting kind of boring. The only thing that appeals to me is the theme song other than that, it's a pretty much flat out boring show. In my my mind Nick is a primarly a kid/teen network. I always pictured Cheers to be on USA, WGN, or TBS and those kinds of networks. I don't think it was a smart idea to put cheers as a part of their lineup. It's in syndication where I live, I still don't watch it. There are still many more 80's sitcoms that Nick could have shown that we haven't seen yet in a long time. DS is a good example of that.

Whew, sorry for the long post!

Different Strokes is on N@N or TVLand -- all the darn time, it seems, because every time I flip it to TVL or N@N, DS is on! Cheers is a good selection for N@N. N@N may be a kid/teen network during the day and on the weekends, but after 9:00 p.m., it shows sitcoms just like what you'd have in syndication on TBS or Fox. Bottom line is.....I'm thrilled to have Cheers on somewhere!!! I've missed it!!!

Well, Nick's target audience is 18-34 year olds, though a lot of people above 9 years of age watch it. Also, "Diff'rent Strokes" was only on once everyday on Nick at Nite, and started on March 12th of this year, and ended last month.

I think "Cheers" is going to put Nick in debt. It's to 'smart', and it's not comedy that everyone can sit through. Personally, Nick has ruined themselves with this show!

If the show sucked, how come it was a HUGE (H-U-G-E) Hit for NBC?

Yes, God forbid a show would ever be "too smart."

Umm ok What was the point in bringing this topic back up? It's over a year old and most of the people who replied to it have either left Sitcoms Online or rarely post on it. Nine out of ten times, it's best to leave a 'anti' post untouched due to the possiblity of a 'fight' especially if it's nearly a year old. These boards are for everyone's opinions and force88 posted his opinion. I'm sure he/she didn't think it would cause much of a difference at the time, since in October of 2001 when this was posted the board was pretty much dead . . .
