WFBT Officially Turning into WWME in Chicago -- Classic TV Programs!

WFBT Becomes WWME-TV on 12/31/04

January 1, 2005: Happy New Year, Happy New Television Station in Chicago


On Saturday January 1st, 2005 Chicagoans will awake to a new year and new television landscape. Broadcast Channel 23 will become a full time, general market independent television station featuring classic television series and live local college and high school sporting events. The station will be known as “Me-TV,” the moniker for “Memorable Entertainment Television.”

Me-TV evolves from the daytime classic TV programming currently seen on WFBT-TV Channel 23. Me-TV’s parent is “The U,” WCIU-TV Channel 26. From January 2005 forward, Chicago viewers will have both “Me” and “U” as locally owned and managed television programming options. Me-TV programs will include “All in the Family”, “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” and the original “Twilight Zone.” The schedules for each station will complement one another, with the common theme of bringing Chicagoans programs they enjoy from first run court shows, off network sitcoms, to professional sports teams. It will be exactly ten years to the day when WCIU-TV became “The U,” Chicago’s local, independent general market television station when the full time Me-TV format debuts.

Polish, Indian, Chinese, Greek, Spanish, Filipino, Lithuanian, Bulgarian, Serbian and many other languages will be represented in programming featuring news, sports, entertainment and culture. Channel 48’s format has it’s roots in the over 35 years that Weigel Broadcasting, Channel 48’s parent company, has been broadcasting to Chicago’s Ethnic communities.

They should add it to their superstations package. If I can get WWOR, WPIX, and KTLA, then I should get this.
