“The Sub” -- Cate is shocked to discover that Principal Gibb (Adam Arkin, “Chicago Hope”) has hired C.J. to be a substitute teacher at the high school. But when C.J. catches Rory cheating on a test, he is torn about reporting it when Cate tries to persuade him to look the other way. Meanwhile, when Bridget breaks her leg because of Kerry’s blunder, she makes her little sister’s life a living nightmare, on “8 Simple Rules,” FRIDAY, JANUARY 7 (8:00-8:30 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

“8 Simple Rules” stars Katey Sagal as Cate Hennessy, Kaley Cuoco as Bridget Hennessy, Amy Davidson as Kerry Hennessy, Martin Spanjers as Rory Hennessy, with James Garner as Jim and David Spade as C.J.

Guest starring are Adam Arkin as Ed Gibb, Owen Williams as Tom, Nicholas E. Barb as Joey and Andy Morrow as Billy.

“The Sub” was written by Bryan Behar & Steve Baldikoski and directed by James Widdoes.

”8 Simple Rules” is broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC's selected HDTV format, with 5.1-channel surround sound.

This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline.
